In this “Spotlight On” article dedicated to Latin America, we will introduce Chilean company CyVmusic, headed by the charismatic couple Carlos Lantadilla Alegría and Verónica González Encinas.
The company was founded by the end of September, 2012 and they have been constantly growing since then, having a well-trained, highly passionate staff for what they do and focused on giving the best service to their clients together with high level international brands, like Powersoft, which they have been distributing since 2013.
Today, CyVmusic is in charge of distributing, marketing and supporting the Italian brand not only in Chile but also in Bolivia, promoting both markets from their local offices. Carlos Lantadilla Alegría, the company's CEO, tells more about his career and CyV story.
How did you start in the audio industry and how did you start CyVmusic?
“My relationship with audio and this industry starts due to a personal curiosity when I was very young and also due to the experience obtained while working for important companies for many years. As an engineer, I have always been very curious and wanted to be in this sector. I couldn’t think of a better way of doing it than having a dedicated company! We have also included musical instruments and pro-fessional lighting to the project. That is how CyVmusic was born, satisfying the market’s needs and lack of attention by having a company that only works with high level technological products providing the right support, technical service and the best price/quality ratio”
How does Powersoft fit into CyVmusic’s portfolio?
“First of all, Powersoft is a leader in the audio market with state-of-the-art products. They work with the best companies and their products are used in important events all over the world. We characterize for having professional products and Powersoft perfectly fits in our brands and products mix”
Which are the principles you follow when choosing a brand to partner with?
“We first take a look at the products it offers, to see if they meet the requirements and levels we want to distribute and represent. As I said before, we look for brands and products that can fulfill a very professional standard”
Why is Powersoft the right choice for rental companies, integrators and designers you work with?
“Because of its quality without question. A sound system doesn’t sound the same after it is powered by Powersoft. The sound and power you get have no compare, plus some other important features like low consumption, low weight, support, size and the Armonía control software, in the case of the K Series with DSP, the Installation line and the X Series. They are really a wonder of technology”
In what kind of projects have Powersoft products been present in your country up to now?
“We have several projects in progress at the moment both in Chile and Bolivia. In Chile, we are working with different important rental companies, like Consca Audio, that have trusted in Powersoft’s quality. In Bolivia, we are present with well-known music groups and also through rental companies, like DASS Sonido”
Have sales grown since you distribute Powersoft?
“When we started our work in the region, Powersoft was a little known brand. Many said it wouldn’t work for being a very technological and new expensive brand, but time and perseverance showed we were right and sales have been constantly growing since then. We are very happy with Powersoft and our clients are even happier. We always knew about Powersoft’s potential”
How fast is the audio industry changing in your country? And what do you think about that?
“In Chile, we always keep up to date with technology. As it changes and new technologies appear, we keep an eye on them so we can offer the latest. In the case of Bolivia, changes are slower. People think that what has already been proven it is what actually works. Technology is a thing they are just starting to consider. That makes us face a bigger challenge, but it is a very interesting market which is growing and we want to leave our mark in the local sound industry”
How has your relationship with Powersoft been and how is the brand evolving to keep pace with the industry?
“Our relationship has always been very friendly and we have been working hard together. Powersoft is always in evolution. It is a brand that is a step ahead in its field and they have provided a big support to us over the last four years”
What can you tell us on the initiative of providing technical training for students in Chile?
“This came up from our technical service engineer, Abel Cruz, who is also a teacher in Chile. We pre-sented a project to the Methodist Corporation, that gathers different associated colleges. That is how we created a course for electronics students from both Robert Johnson College and William Taylor College. The latter one would honored us some time later by winning the National Telecommunications Olympics carried out in Santiago. We have the participation of around 40 students from both schools up to now”
How has the experience been for the company?
“So rewarding! To be part of the students development is the best payment. We know that what we are proving will be a good tool for their future and we plan to continue with this initiative over 2017. We have several other projects coming!”
What motivates you to continue working in the industry as a professional and company owner?
“The passion for what I do. I enjoy my job, I enjoy music and work hard to grow day after day”
What strategies and actions will you follow this year to continue your job with Powersoft?
“We will have different training seminars in Chile this year together with the AIEP Professional Institute - which belongs to the Andrés Bello University -, where they teach Sound Performance Engineering and Sound Technology. This will be carried out in Santiago. Additionally, we will also organize product demos in Iquique (Chile) and also in Bolivia over 2017”
