ISE 2018: Yamaha Announces New RIVAGE PM Series Firmware

Alongside the launch of Yamaha’s new RIVAGE PM7 digital mixing system at ISE 2018, the company is announcing updated, Version 2 firmware for RIVAGE PM10. The new firmware delivers a range of enhancements and additional features for RIVAGE system users.

For live sound applications, the addition of the easy-to-operate Rupert Neve Designs Portico 5045 Primary Source Enhancer effectively suppresses background noise at microphone inputs for enhanced clarity while significantly increasing the feedback margin, a valuable tool in houses of worship, stadiums, halls, and other environments where feedback can be problem.

A new Dual Console function allows the CSD-R7 control surface of the RIVAGE PM7 system to be connected to the RIVAGE PM10 CS-R10 or CS-R10-S control surfaces. This means that, for example, the compact CS-R10-S control surface can be used at Front of House, side-stage for mixing monitors or as a sidecar expansion console, depending on space and system scale requirements.

Another new function is DSP Mirroring, a RIVAGE PM10 only facility which allows two DSP-R10 DSP engines to be used for failsafe redundancy. If a problem occurs in the main DSP-R10 unit, the second DSP-R10 can seamlessly take over.

Of particular interest to broadcast users will be 5.1 surround panning and monitoring, with two surround buses available for efficient international feed production. A broadcast Mix Minus function is also provided, allowing a specified source to be removed from a specified remote feed with a simple hands-on short-cut.

The Version 2 firmware also allows the creation of two TWINLANe ring networks in one system, allowing the use of as many as 16 RPio series i/o units with up to 800 audio channels at 96kHz and 3000 input connections to the system. There is a new Port-to-Port function that allows bridging between both the TWINLANe rings and additional Dante networks.

In further announcements to complement the new firmware, PM Editor software will now also be available for Macintosh OSX as well as Windows users, while a new StageMix iPad controller for RIVAGE systems will be available to download from the iTunes store.

These are just some of the exciting enhancements that will be included in the new RIVAGE Version 2 firmware. For further information, please talk to Yamaha’s experts at ISE or contact us after the show.

Yamaha Commercial Audio is exhibiting on stand 3-C112 at ISE 2018, which takes place at the Amsterdam RAI from 6th - 9th February.
