Curtain up on Stage Set Scenery in Berlin

Starting 18th June, over 300 exhibitors will be presenting their latest products and services to do with the theatre, film and event technology at Stage|Set|Scenery.

The international trade show and conference is taking place on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds from 18 to 20 June 2019 and is co-organised by Deutsche Theatertechnische Gesellschaft (DTHG) and Messe Berlin.

Dr. Christian Göke, CEO of Messe Berlin: ”With over 50 theatres, three opera houses, Europe's biggest museum complex and numerous exhibition venues, as well as some 1,000 companies representing the film industry,culture is a major economic factor in Berlin. By hosting Stage|Set|Scenery we are aiming to give the city's large cultural sector a platform for an interdisciplinary dialogue, opportunities for training and an inspirational event.“

From AR and stage technology to safety during productions

The RoundTables and special display areas have been integrated directly into the halls to ensure their proximity to the exhibitors, many of whom have actively contributed to the programme and setting up the special display areas. The LightLab curated by ManfredOllieOlma of mo2 design was constructed with the support of Nüssli and xEMP – extra Entertainment Media Publishing. The focus here is on lighting, projection and networks. The Lifetime Talks are a new format, where Ollie Olma will be meeting well-known figures from the event and lighting technology scene, including Ralph-Jörg Wezorke of Lightpower, Hannes Gerriets of Gerriets and Josef Valcher of ROBE.

Experience Technologies represent a new topic at Stage|Set|Scenery. At the Immersive ShowRoom – Where Technology meets Experience’ in Hall 20, the focus is on an interdisciplinary exchange of views about technology, new realities and interactive discovery worlds. On Tuesday and Wednesday the emphasis will be on the use of new technologies in the theatre. Examples will be provided of AR and VR being used at the Große Schauspielhaus and Komische Oper in Berlin. On Thursday the focus will be on the possibilities and challenges of innovative Experience Technology in museums and at other cultural venues.

International experts will give 14 fascinating impulse lectures providing far-reaching insights into a wide range of different technologies that are already successfully helping to create a unique visitor experience. Companies represented will include museum4punkt0, NEEEU, Artificial Rome, Shoutr Labs, EXOZET, HAPTO, INVR, Evrbit, tactile studio, ART+COM and IMAGINARY.Stage Set Scenery 19 3 CE

The Event Manufactory is new too, where topics include sustainability at events, guest performance theatres in the role of event venues as well as online sales for the MICE industry – a segment which has been welcomed by Berlin’s diverse event industry.

Other highlights at Stage|Set|Scenery include the fully booked Audio segment, with its focus on the SoundLab in Hall 22, where companies such as Gerriets, KS Beschallungstechnik, Müller-BBM, DPA, Kling & Freitag and Shure will be giving live demonstrations. Away from the bustle of the show visitors will be able to experience the latest audio technology trends in an ideal acoustic environment.Stage Set Scenery 19 2 CE

Under the heading ’Up in the air’, topics on the Safety in Action stageinclude working under suspended loads, drone camera systems, fire prevention at events, safety integration levels (SIL 3) and trapeze safety devices. This is also the first time that stage equipment from Bosch Rexroth, SBS Bühnentechnik, Waagner-Biro and Cast will be involved.

Whether the subject is temporary theatre venues, industry standards in decoration building or international collaboration among the trade associations and OISTAT centres – the RoundTables will feature a wide range of topics and examine the latest developments in detail.

Along with the programme of conference events, 300 companies will be presenting their latest products and services. The exhibition features all the skilled trades required for a successful production – ranging from stage equipment, audio and lighting systems and furnishings to museum and event technology.

In partnership with Riedel, for the first time the show’s highlights will be streamed live via their website and Facebook. Daily at 5 p.m. a live programme will be aired featuring the day’s highlights.Stage Set Scenery 19 5 CE
