Prolight + Sound 2017 presents an attractive setting for product presentations, business and recruiting

Prolight + Sound has been strengthened by the recent conceptual developments and will maintain and continue to develop the new components for the next edition in 2017.

Thus, from 4 to 7 April 2017, the International Fair of Technologies and Services for Entertainment, Integrated Systems and Creation will once again be the meeting place for the industry and the showcase for the latest products and trends in the sector.

By moving to the eastern part of Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre in 2016, the fair was able to expand the spectrum of products and services on show and, as in the past, all key players will be represented at Prolight + Sound 2017, many of them with even bigger presentations than before. The shift in the days of opening to Tuesday to Friday was given a positive reception this year and will be retained next year. A wide-ranging seminar programme covering all business segments will be held on all four days of the fair. A special focal point of Prolight + Sound 2017 will be on promoting young people and creating areas of contact between companies and skilled personnel.

With the highly successful première of the new concept, we executed a decisive change in course for the future of Prolight + Sound as the world’s foremost business platform and showcase for the sector”, says Michael Biwer, Group Show Director of the Entertainment, Media & Creative Industries Business Unit of Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH. “In close cooperation with companies from the sector, we aim to continue this success story at the coming Prolight + Sound and further optimise the fair in the future."

High degree of exhibitor interest sends out positive signals

Prolight + Sound visitors have the chance to obtain an unrivalled overview of the latest products, trends and technologies on the global market. The leading brands of all branches of the event-technology industry have already registered to exhibit at the coming Prolight + Sound. The key players that have confirmed their participation in the event include Adam Hall, Altman, Amptown, Audio-Technica, Ayrton, Chain Master, Chauvet, Clay Paky, Coda Audio, dbTechnologies, Digico, DPA Microphones, ETC – Electronic Theatre Controls, FBT Elettronica, Gerriets, GLP German Light Products, JB-Lighting, Klotz, L-Acoustics, Lawo, MA Lighting, Martin Professional, Meyer Sound, Monacor International, Music & Lights, nivtec-flexibel, Panasonic, Prolyte Group, Riedel, ROBE Lighting, Sennheiser and SGM Light. The seven exhibition halls and the extensive outdoor exhibition area in the eastern section of Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre provide the space required for the targeted presentation of the individual product groups. Prolight + Sound is split into the following sections: Audio + Sound (Hall 3.1, Hall 4.1), Light + Stage (Hall 3.0), Light + Multimedia (Hall 4.0), Light + Entertainment (Hall 5.0) and Education + Associations (Forum.0). Additionally, the outdoor exhibition space makes it possible to demonstrate new products under realistic, open-air conditions. In 2017, the Concert Sound Arena, which presents PA systems in action, will be centrally located on the Agora, in the heart of the eastern section. At the same time, the Live Sound Arena, close to the City entrance, will showcase mobile PA systems. Also on the outdoor area will be mobile stages, tent systems and LED walls.

An improved visitor-guidance system compared to last year will make it easier for visitors to find the individual product groups. Moreover, there will be separate, clearly laid-out brochures for ‘special interest’ product groups, which bring together the appropriate exhibitors from the various segments. These ‘Quickfinders’ will be available for the ‘Broadcast, Production & Recording’, ‘Stage & Theatre’, ‘Media Technology & System Integration’ and ‘Event & Congress’ product segments. Exhibitors from the individual ‘special interest’ segments can also be found directly via the online search engine of the Prolight + Sound website and the Prolight + Sound app.

High-grade seminar programme with broad thematic spectrum

The shift to four workdays enabled Prolight + Sound to further hone its profile as the fair for professionals and, in the course of this process, to extend the range of professional-development events to all four days. Next year, as in the past, renowned speakers will pass on expertise revolving around technical innovations, new areas of application and marketing and management.

The professional-development programme is split into three seminar blocks. The Prolight + Sound Conference is characterised by a wide spectrum of disciplines covering all aspects of professional event and AV media technology. The conference has two main sections, Basic and Advanced, and is aimed at both newcomers and experienced personnel. It offers an opportunity to refresh the basics, learn from experts and exchange ideas and information with colleagues. The second block, the Eventplaza Conference, will be held for the seventh year running. Aimed in particular at event and incentive managers, HR managers and congress and conference organisers, it tackles subjects such as event safety, progressive event production and effective event communication. The third seminar block, the Manufacturers’ Forum was launched at the last Prolight + Sound and is to be continued in 2017. There, leading companies from the sector present technological trends with reference to specific projects.

Prolight + Sound brings together companies and young people

Against the background of continuous growth in demand for well-trained personnel, Prolight + Sound offers a range of special services for students and trainees. Additionally, there will be a new area to promote contacts between companies wanting to recruit new staff and newcomers and experienced personnel looking for new jobs.

In line with this, the Tuesday of the fair will take place under the motto Future Talents Day and include an attractive programme for young and aspiring personnel with guided tours of the fair, special lectures and workshops. The Job Forum in Forum.0 is a platform that puts companies wanting to recruit staff from the event and media-technology sector in touch with suitable applicants. It represents a point of contact for all visitors interested in taking up new challenges in the sector.

Renowned awards spotlight outstanding achievements

Successful projects are the result of a perfect partnership between man and technology. Prolight + Sound is the venue for important award ceremonies, which draw attention to outstanding achievements in the field of event and media technology.

Opus – German Stage Award – has been given for excellent achievements in the fields of lighting design, technical realisation, stage design, video and sound design since 2002. It is one of the most important awards for the creative use of professional event technology. A new set of rules for 2017 now makes it possible to select individual and team achievements. In other words, the winners can be personalities, project teams or companies. Parallel to Opus, Sinus – System Integrations Award – honours projects distinguished by the innovative and pioneering use of media technology and systems integration. The sponsors of this honorary award are Messe Frankfurt, the The German Entertainment Technology Association (Verband der Medien- und Veranstaltungstechnik - VPLT) and the European Association of Event Centers (Europäischer Verband der Veranstaltungs-Centren - EVVC). The expert jury is composed of members of the associations, experts from the sector and representatives of the media and Messe Frankfurt. The awards will be presented in ‘Saal Europa’ of Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre on 5 April 2017.

Three-day overlap with Musikmesse

Together with Musikmesse, International Trade Fair for Musical Instruments, Sheet Music, Music Production and Music Business Connections, Prolight + Sound represents the world’s biggest get-together for the music and event industry. Changing the days of Musikmesse to Wednesday to Sunday means the valuable synergistic effects between the two events will be strengthened compared to 2016 with Musikmesse and Prolight + Sound being held concurrently on three days. Altogether, the two trade fairs attracted well over 100,000 visitors from 130 countries and around 2,000 exhibitors from 60 countries in 2016.
