Live For Broadcast expert LD sessions set for LDI

LDI is launching a series of Live For Broadcast sessions in a specially built pavilion on the show floor at this year’s conference.

Leading lighting designers from the TV and film sector will discuss the changing landscape of the broadcast industry and how technology, innovation and the evolution of the medium itself are transforming the creative process.

Sessions will feature 30-minute talks by experts including Bob Barnhart, Mike Berger, Matt Cotter, Oscar Dominguez, Josh Hutchins, Tiffany Keyes, and Jeff Ravitz.

 

The lead sponsor for the Live For Broadcast Pavilion is PRG and all sessions will take place in the new Live For Broadcast Pavilion inside the Las Vegas Convention Center.

In addition, LDI is further enhancing its TV and film market support by offering a series of in-depth sessions with world-class broadcast lighting designers at this year’s conference.

Open to all LDInnovationConference badge and six-pack conference pass holders, the guest speakers will explore new opportunities in the industry and the skillsets required to adapt as requirements evolve.

“These 90-minute sessions will explore issues at the heart of our industry, with the latest design tips and techniques, lighting applications, lighting console programming, and video art and technology,” says Cybulski continues. “They offer an invaluable way to learn your way around the business and grow your knowledge of this sector.”

They will take place in a Room N264 with lighting gear provided by ARRI and PRG. All three in-depth sessions will be recorded and available to view on demand on the LiveDesignOnline website.

Cinematography For Multi-Camera Narrative TV Production: The Role And Responsibilities Of The Director of Photography on Saturday, November 23, 11am-12:30pm.

Six-time Emmy winner, Bill Berner, will discuss the increasing opportunities for LDs to cross over into director of photography roles. Berner leads a course in how to make the move, covering the skills, technological know-how and responsibilities required.

Everything Is For Broadcast on Saturday, November 23, 1:30pm-3pm.

Industry veteran and Robospot inventor Seth Robinson, and three-time Emmy-nominated lighting designer, Stan Crocker, will host a learner session about the artistic implications of key light angle, color and intensity when working on a range of video projects, with a view to enhancing understanding of how and where work will be seen.

From Concept to Reality-Using Technology to Light a Comic Book Movie Case Study—Birds of Prey on Saturday, November 23, 3:30-5pm

A host of lighting experts engage in a roundtable discussion about creative concepts and how to really push boundaries to achieve great things, focusing on the movie ‘Birds of Prey’ from DC Comics Warner Bros, due for release in February 2020. Panelists include Michael Bauman, Chief Lighting Technician; Luis Moreno, Assistant Chief Lighting Technician; Mike Bonnaud, Chief Rigging Lighting Technician; Jared Wellman, Rigging Lighting Programmer; Jason Young, Lead Systems Tech; Phil Abeyta, Lead Fixtures Foreman, Richard Rasmussen, Lighting Programmer.

LDI2019 is at the Las Vegas Convention Center, November 18-24. (Designers’ participation is dependent on professional commitments.)
