SB Audience is excited about expanding its new range of compression drivers. This time they are introducing four new compression drivers to the Rosso family of drivers. The Rosso series sits above the BIANCO series and represents higher performance still maintaining great performance to cost ratio.
The four new drivers consist of two 34mm and two 44mm compression drivers, each are available as a Ferrite motor system and a higher performance Neodymium motor system which can be identified in the part number by the letter “N”, ROSSO-34CD-PK, ROSSO-34CDN-PK, ROSSO-44CD-PK, ROSSO-44CDN-PK. The Neo versions weigh only 60% of their Ferrite counterparts as well as being more compact along with increased sensitivity. The advantages of the strong, yet light weight Neodymium motor systems is hard to ignore and make these high performance compression drivers extremely suitable used in multiples for compact line array applications.
This new Rosso family of compression drivers is developed from the ground up with new geometry in all critical areas. The optimised cast rear chamber also features internal damping for well controlled non resonant behaviour
The well controlled impedance of these compression drivers are a testimony to the extended development that has gone into achieving low distortion and high output with very good control of resonance anomalies that are usually evident when examining the impedance of compression drivers.
As indicated by the “PK” identification in the model number all four compression drivers feature a composite PEEK diaphragm which is short for PolyEtherEtherKetone. They have continued to develop this diaphragm material and found it ideally suited to this style and size of compression drivers with a very detailed and precise sound without sharpness or harshness.
