The 5th edition of A Summer Story turned Madrid into the epicenter of global electronic music on June 21st and 22nd.
The first major summer festival held in the Ciudad Del rock of Arganda del Rey, celebrated its five years of life with a record attendance of 100,000 visitors and a poster that amassed the most important national and international names along with a technical deployment at a scale of the finest European festivals.
The festival assorted more than 70 different artists which paraded through its four stages, including world stars Richie Hawtin, Paco Osuna, Carl Cox, Nicky Romero, Lost Frequencies, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, Amelie Lens amongst many others.
Also worthy of noting is DJ Nano, who on his second day played a twelve-hour special set of Oro Viejo for the first time in his history that made the audience dance from sunset to sunrise. Hip hop and urban music premiered a space in the festival during its first day with artists like Beret, Delaporte, or Ayax & Prok.
In addition to the poster, another highlight of this 5th edition was its stages, whose outstanding construction was a demonstration of technical and audiovisual capacity. The Main Stage, which was designed by Eduardo Valverde of Pixelmap Studios, presented a pyramid building 35 meters high with an extensive set of lighting and screens along with a robust sound kit with 340,000 watts that featured Raúl Méndez (Fluge ) as its technical director of sound, in addition to the rest of the stages.
The Air Europa Stage, designed by Juan Carlos Pérez Rodríguez, which hosted DJ Nano’s Mike Williams’, Borgore’s or Don Diablo’s performance, exhibited a rectangular structure accompanied by a striking light and video design. It included a large central LED screen which split into two horizontal halves thanks to its variable speed motors.
The Live and Techno Stage, designed by Enrique Jiménez (Fluge) and intended for the performances of urban artists and DJs like Óscar Mulero or Ben Sims or Sam Paganini, exhibited a design inspired by the legendary video game Space Invaders. It’s setup also included vertical LED screens tilted above the stage whose arrangement was a technical challenge. Likewise, the AliExpress Stage by Trade DJ summoned many other artists to display their electronic proposal.
Fluge Audiovisuales for the 5th consecutive year, provided all the sound, lighting, video and audiovisual technical staff for A Summer Story thanks to the trust of Disorder Events, producer of the festival.
