Niesmann+Bischoff product launch inspires customers with PIXERA

The Scalaria Eventresort, at the picturesque Wolfgangsee, enlisted event designer Thomas Hödlmoser to deliver the world premiere of the new Niesmann+Bischoff Flair using PIXERA media server systems.

For those who like to combine the flexibility of a camper van with maximum comfort, Niesmann+Bischoff has undoubtedly been a household name for many years. The heartfelt wish to give customers the feeling of being truly at home on the road has been a source of inspiration ever since the German company was founded in 1955. The ability to regularly present innovations and to set new standards has been a constant companion on Niesmann+Bischoff’s road to success.

For the presentation of its new premium motorhome, the Niesmann+Bischoff Flair – a luxurious vehicle that impresses with its slick interior design and cutting-edge technology – the AV technology used for the launch on 7 July had to deliver the same level of uncompromising excellence.

The Austrian event designer Thomas Hödlmoser was tasked with creating and delivering the technical aspects of the presentation concept for the Flair’s world premiere. More than 250 international guests who gathered at the picturesque scalaria eventresort at the Wolfgangsee needed to be impressed, informed and entertained.

The Scalaria Eventresort was not chosen at random but has instead been Niesmann+Bischoff’s first port of call for many years when it comes to hosting world-class product launches for their new models. The resort itself is a family-run business, nestled in the breathtakingly beautiful landscape of the Austrian Salzkammergut region and perfectly equipped to deliver any kind of product presentation.

A combination of lifting platforms in the resort’s two large auditoriums, modern technical equipment and the open-air setting offer a great foundation for innovative product presentations.

It was of great importance to make it possible for the audience to experience the philosophy, the general spirit and the high standards N+B follows in terms of design and minimalism. We needed to develop an approach that was truly elegant, and would not appear obtrusive, but would allow enough space for content to be displayed, explains Hödlmoser.

All project stakeholders agreed that in order to highlight the technical innovation aspect of the new Flair, a classic ‘click’-based slide presentation would not suffice. Together with the end client, Hödlmoser developed a presentation concept where the new model’s interior and exterior could be presented via a tablet in the hand of the main presenter in a ‘swipe and slide’ style.

The reliability of the final setup was of particular importance in order to ensure a smooth presentation, explains Hödlmoser: “You hand over the tablet a few moments before the show and have to be able to ensure that no part of the setup will let you down, since we really wanted to convey the smooth haptic feel of a tablet and fully apply it to the extra-large 4K projection”.

A major component of the Flair presentation was AV Stumpfl’s award-winning, next-gen media server system, PIXERA.

We succeeded in creating an ultra-fast connection between the tablet and the media server. We were able to display any input on the device, every effect, every turn of the models in ultra-high definition, as if someone were just filming the tablet. The PIXERA system’s ability to capture 4K sources nearly latency free was a great advantage, continues the designer.

A PIXERA two Quad server was used in both the indoor and outdoor space, in combination with grandMA2 lighting consoles. The technical in-house equipment included a 4K Panasonic PT-RQ35K projector with 32,000 ANSI lumens, used for the realisation of the large central rear projection. Additional projectors were rented in close partnership with the Vienna-based Panasonic distribution partner AV-Professional, in order to project onto the remaining projection surfaces.

Hödlmoser elaborates on the audio setup of the Flair’s world premiere: "The audio signals were integrated into the existing Dante network of the scalaria resort via Dante virtual soundcards in PIXERA. That’s another feature I really like, especially when indoor and outdoor shows seamlessly intersect. Yamaha QL desks were another cornerstone of the scalaria audio network, which did their part to ensure the stability of the overall system”.

The final presentation, which lasted for several hours, both introduced the new Flair and created a tangible experience around the Niesmann+Bischoff brand, following a stylish, minimalist concept design.

Now it’s back to developing new ideas and finding fresh approaches, since it doesn’t usually take long for Niesmann+Bischoff to come up with innovative new products, Hödlmoser concludes.
