CODA Audio announces the release of its compact line array system, CiRAY, featuring dual 10" speakers. As the third member of CODA's VCA family, CiRAY has been developed to provide maximum flexibility for rental companies and complete a full spectrum of line array products for installations.
In addition to harnessing CODA's revolutionary patented technologies to deliver an ultra-lightweight and ultra-compact standalone system, CiRAY can also seamlessly work with its "siblings," ViRAY (8") and flagship AiRAY (12"), for the best mix-and-match configuration, achieving optimal sound and logistical results for various live and installed applications.
The VCA range shares CODA Audio's unique technologies, including the patented double diaphragm planar wave driver (DDP), coupling technology, and FS-FIR filters. CiRAY also benefits from the incorporation of CODA's latest Dynamic Airflow Cooling (DAC) system.
From a setup perspective, CiRAY is one of the fastest and most efficient systems currently available. The ultra-light and ultra-compact speakers can be transported in groups of 6 on a specially designed dolly with covers and LID technology for efficient truck storage. A complete set of 12 speakers (2 x 6) can be configured in minutes with a single operator, and all cabinets are ready for their relative angles when lifted into place. Three cabinets can be powered from a single CODA LINUS14 DSP channel, requiring only one amplifier for a full set of 12 speakers via a standard industry power amplifier cable.
CiRAY uses the same unique coupling technology as the rest of the VCA family, providing horizontal dispersion control up to 200 Hz with coverage options of 60°, 90°, and 120°. CiRAY has the additional advantage of easy access, using CODA's quick-release grille and the ability to instantly change horizontal dispersion through CODA's patented Instafit magnetic couplers.
Both acoustically and mechanically compatible with the VCA family, the controlled low-frequency extension SC2-F with dual 15" sensors overlaps VCA line arrays in the 35-200Hz range. The SC2-F can be strategically deployed in various ways, either to significantly enhance the system's low-frequency impact and handling capacity in a long-range setup, or to provide a precise cardioid dispersion pattern across the frequency range when installed behind the line array. Additionally, the SC2-F could be used in a beam-splitting configuration, making the system adaptable to almost any application.
By completing the VCA range with CiRAY, CODA acknowledges its customers' need for flexibility, durability, and return on investment. Instead of following the traditional (and costly) path of creating separate systems for designated applications, CODA Audio aims to incorporate compatibility into its ranges, allowing in this case a speaker family to comfortably cater to audiences from a few hundred to tens of thousands. Typically, ViRAY works for venues with capacities up to 5000 people, CiRAY up to 20,000, and AiRAY for long-range events of 50,000 people and more. However, the VCA range's compatibility allows for custom system configurations by mixing and matching the three elements for optimal performance.
David Webster, Global Director of Sales and Marketing at CODA Audio, comments:
Whether it's a stadium tour, a one-off concert in an arena, a festival, a theatrical installation, or any other setting, clients can mix and match the VCA family, including a variety of bass extensions and subwoofers, to better suit the task at hand. Unlike fixed-format systems, the ViRAY, CiRAY, AiRAY array is an ecosystem designed to give clients more control. Our innovative approach eliminates the complications of fixed formats: all these speakers hang together and have the same form factor to fit the environment, eliminating concerns about flying different hardware. VCA range elements can be configured for the exact reach required, and coupling technology allows precise coverage adjustments to suit the venue and audience, perfect for rental companies and installers. A range of clever accessories has been designed for the VCA range, to protect, transport, and set up systems safely and efficiently. Ultimately, the addition of CiRAY to the line array family brings unparalleled flexibility to clients.
