Netron FS16 enhances connectivity for high-data-volume productions

Obsidian Control Systems introduces the Netron FS16, a network switch designed for lighting professionals who require solid, reliable connectivity under the demands of live production.

Featuring fibre and copper connectivity, along with PoE capabilities, its advanced networking features make it an alternative to traditional IT switches.

The Netron FS16 simplifies complex lighting networks through dedicated fibre-optic connectivity, providing reliable and predictable performance. Designed for live productions, it avoids the complexity of traditional IT switches while delivering fast, stable control throughout long-running shows, tours, and installations.

The Netron FS16 was developed in response to industry demand for a network solution capable of handling high-data-volume productions and increasingly networked show environments. As our first fibre switch, it delivers a high-performance solution for demanding live event environments, with an IP-rated design that provides the durability required for professional use, states Koy Neminathan, Business Director of Obsidian Control Systems.

As network switches become increasingly important across multiple disciplines, including audio applications based on protocols such as Dante, the FS16 provides a valuable networking solution beyond lighting alone. “At the same time, it delivers this level of performance at a lower price point than many comparable products currently available”.

The FS16 features 12 Gigabit ports, 4 fibre ports, and PoE+ support, delivering high-speed data transmission and power distribution for Netron nodes or any PoE+ device. With a total PoE power budget of 180 W, it is well suited to distributing data and power to Netron nodes or any other PoE+-compatible network device.

Highly optimised for processing the large volumes of data found in today’s increasingly sophisticated lighting systems, the Netron FS16 enables instant network selection via four dedicated preset buttons on the front panel, an external remote control connected via RJ45, or a web interface. These presets allow main and backup console configurations, as well as different front-of-house setups, to be recalled quickly, enabling fast network changes and smooth, uninterrupted show execution.

From Art-Net and sACN to Dante and MA-Net, the FS16 is optimised for seamless data distribution across live production and installation workflows, delivering flexibility, efficiency, and future-ready performance.
