German band Söhne Mannheims, founded in Mannheim in 1995, celebrated its 20th anniversary this summer with two sold out shows in their hometown. Both show’s audio systems were supplied by Bottrop, West Central Germany-based TDA Rental, with a DiGiCo SD5 at Front of House and two SD7s for monitors.

For the in-house screening room, an Alcons CR1 system with subwoofer, surrounds and processing-amplification was acquired.

While Hollywood star Steve Martin and singer/songwriter Edie Brickell might seem an unlikely pairing to write a musical, their shared love of bluegrass music resulted in Bright Star, a story of love and loss in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains. Delicate reproduction of the bluegrass score was vital to the show’s success, which is why sound designer Nevin Steinberg chose an Alcons pro-ribbon sound system.

These are just two of the projects that have been keeping studio owner Manolito Galea (Lito) busy over the past few months, neatly coinciding with the addition of more Audient gear to the studio that bears his name.
For yet another year running D.A.S. Audio professional sound systems were on hand to provide top-of-the-line sound for the 55th Cosquín National Folk Festival. The city’s Plaza Próspero Molina played host to the 10,000-plus spectators who descended on the square each “moon”, as the festival evenings are called.
For new business Crown Works Studio (CWS), the purchase of two ASP880 8-channel mic pres turned out to be two of the most useful – and economically sensible - additions to their studio. “The pair of ASP880s are currently in place of the typical large format console and high end converters found in most studios,” says owner and assistant engineer, Ross Wareing, confessing that it was “…something we were very wary of to begin until we heard the ASP880s in action.”
