Celestion launches the G12-100 Raven with five impulse response configurations

Celestion has announced the worldwide availability of its new G12-100 Raven guitar speaker and, at the same time, launched the official Raven Impulse Response (IR) collection.

This allows guitarists to enjoy its modern high-gain tone through both physical speaker cabinets and digital audio workstations (DAWs) and amp modellers.

Heavyweight tone, lightweight design

Designed for modern rock and metal guitarists, the 12-inch G12-100 Raven features a completely redesigned lightweight ceramic magnet assembly. This structure reduces the speaker's weight to just 2.5 kg without sacrificing the magnetic force needed to meet the demands of high-gain, high-output rigs.

The Raven offers a 100 W power rating, a 2-inch voice coil and 100 dB sensitivity. It is designed to handle high-gain solos, low-tuned riffs and clean tones with plenty of headroom. Its sonic character features defined, punchy mids, dark highs and a firm low end, with a treble response that remains articulate without becoming harsh.

Celestion has also worked to ensure that the low-end and high-frequency response remain stable even after hundreds of hours of intensive use on stage and in recording studios.

The official Raven Impulse Responses

For guitarists working in digital environments, home studios or with digital amp modellers, Celestion has captured the acoustic behaviour of the Raven in five cabinet configurations: 1x12 open-back, 1x12 closed-back, 2x12 open-back, 2x12 closed-back and 4x12 closed-back.

The impulse responses were recorded at Celestion's purpose-built studio facility using industry-standard microphones, including the Royer R-121 ribbon microphone, Shure SM57 and Sennheiser MD421. Each cabinet configuration offers multiple microphone placements and microphone mixes.

The IRs can be purchased individually or as part of the complete Celestion Raven IR Collection, which includes all five configurations at a lower price than purchasing the files separately.

By releasing the G12-100 Raven physical speaker alongside its official Impulse Responses, we are giving guitarists complete freedom to integrate this tone into their setups. Whether you're looking to reduce the weight of your touring cabinets without losing power or create devastating high-gain tracks in the studio, the Raven delivers uncompromising performance from the very first note, says Ken Weller, Celestion's Head of Marketing.
