From the Prague Quadrennial to Stage|Set|Scenery in Berlin

Next year, the Prague Quadrennial (Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space) and Stage|Set|Scenery in Berlin will collaborate for the first time.

After seeing the Prague Quadrennial visitors will be able to attend the international trade show and conference for theatre, film and event technology in Berlina Wesko Rohde, chairman of DTHG: “The collaboration between these two established events stands for a commitment to Europe, the art of the theatre ensemble and for a wide range of creativity on and behind the stage.” The Prague Quadrennial is recognised as the worldʼs leading platform for scenography. Every four years since launching in 1967 it devotes itself to scenography as a field in which various disciplines such as the performative and visual arts, and architecture for instance, interact. The Quadrennialʼs main focus is the section on countries and regions. The colourful exhibition gives artists from more than 60 countries an opportunity to present new forms of scenography. The slogan of the fourteenth edition of the Prague Quadrennial, which will take place from 6 to 16 June 2019, is ʼImagination, Transformation and Memoryʼ.

At Stage|Set|Scenery the focus is on the technical implementation of creative ideas. The international trade show and conference for theatre, film and event technology will take place from 18 to 20 June on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds and represents every sector required for a successful production – ranging from stage equipment and technology to lighting and sound equipment, as well as furnishings, make-up and costumes.

Next year at Stage|Set|Scenery the focus will again be on an exchange of views among practitioners. Visitors can expect a wide-ranging programme of events and a host of interactive formats, including round tables, panel discussions and workshops.

Once again, the LightLab curated by Manfred “Ollie“ Olma will devote itself to topics concerning lighting, projection and networks. At the Soundlab trade visitors will be welcome to come and experience the sound of state-of-the-art audio systems. Next year, taking as its slogan ʼUp in the airʼ, the Safety in Action stage will focus on stage rigging equipment, drone cameras and working under suspended loads.
