Robe’s Arianne 6 fixtures bring club energy to the main stage at Roskilde Festival

Lighting designer Jannik Kenneth has chosen Robe's new Arianne 6 LED wash beam fixtures for Danish singer and poet Tobias Rahim's summer tour, arranging the luminaires in a long line across the back of the stage.

These are the first units of this model to enter a Danish rental company's inventory, purchased by Aalborg-based Profox.

A total of 28 Arianne 6 fixtures were installed side by side, forming a long line upstage. For Rahim's headline performance, scheduled for 1 a.m. on the Orange Stage at Roskilde Festival, the number of units was increased to 46.

Jannik had initially specified Robe Spiiders, one of his favourite fixtures. However, when Profox was selected as the lighting rental provider for the tour, the opportunity arose to purchase the new fixtures through Robe distributor Light Partner. This purchase is part of several investments Profox has made in Robe equipment this year.

Club aesthetics and floor-based lighting

Jannik has been working with the artist for four years and also took on the roles of stage designer and show director for the tour.

As all the performances took place at night, the aim was to create a club-style show, with some songs reworked in a more electronic style. The design needed to be able to shift from intimate moments to bold, high-impact visuals.

To achieve this, it was essential to maintain a clean, uncluttered stage, with powerful backlighting and smoke effects. For this reason, much of the lighting rig was installed directly on the floor.

I love pixel battens, but they don't offer the punch or definition I can get with the Arianne 6s, which have been fantastic for generating huge visual energy and creating striking light curtain effects, commented Jannik.

The first time he saw the results in nighttime drone footage captured above the venue, he was blown away by the effect.

Zoom, colour and intensity

Jannik describes the Arianne 6 as "a great new fixture", offering plenty of power and a smooth, well-defined beam.

He finds the lime LED particularly interesting because "it really makes the colours pop", while also being highly useful for television and broadcast applications. However, on this tour, the fixtures were operated in RGB mode to optimise light output.

After colour and output, one of the features he valued most was the wide zoom range, from 3.8° to 60°. "This fixture gave me everything I needed for this project", he stated, also highlighting its "great versatility" for applications ranging from venues with capacities of 1,000 to 1,500 people to large stadiums.

As follow spots and profile fixtures are becoming increasingly powerful, wash fixtures also need to keep up, and this range certainly does.

The Arianne 6 also features independently controlled LED rings, allowing for eye-catching visual effects.

For the Roskilde performance, the Orange Stage lighting rig also included Robe Spiider and MegaPointe fixtures, as well as iFORTE LTX follow spots, supplied by rental company Victory.

Jannik personally programmed and operated the lighting throughout the tour and plans to continue using the Arianne 6 in future designs.
