GLP’s faith in extending its floor space to record levels at this year’s Prolight + Sound Show in Frankfurt could not have been better rewarded. The enlarged stand was permanently packed with visitors throughout the four days.

When the highly anticipated stage version of the blockbuster film The Devil Wears Pradadebuted in Chicago in the summer of 2022, it was to mixed reviews. By the time it arrived in London’s West End at the end of 2024 it was with an entirely fresh production, including a new creative team and an original score from Elton John.

Six years after working at Leicester’s Curve Theatre for the premiere of the new musical The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole, lighting designer Howard Hudsonhas returned to the venue to light the new production of A Chorus Line. Both shows have made heavy use of GLP’s award-winning LED moving heads.

On 9th November, the city of Berlin – representing the entire country – celebrated the 35th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Instead of a central celebration at the Brandenburg Gate, this time it decided on a decentralised concept with five stages. In addition, 5,000 posters, designed by Berliners, lined up in a row to trace the course of the former wall.

The UK’s popular Christmas Light Trails, which have increasingly gained currency since COVID, create an almost magical and magnetic visitor experience.

GLP took the radical decision to reduce the footprint of its booth at this year’s LDI expo, which has been taking place at the Las Vegas Convention Center. This was in order to free up budget, which was reinvested in their lavish 30th anniversary party at the luxury Venetian Resort. With over 2,000 guests attending, it was one of the Expo’s great parties of all time.

The MotoGP has been the highest level of road racing within the FIM Motorcycle World Road Racing Championship since 2002. Around 19 Grand Prix races are held worldwide each season, and from 16th to 18th August the premier class of motorcycle racing took place at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg for the MotoGP Austrian Grand Prix 2024.

On the first night of Wacken Open Air, German medieval rockers In Extremo took center stage on the Louder Stage. For this show at Wacken, the band’s lighting designer, Martin Heining, expanded his design by incorporating 12 GLP Creos lights, adding to the already impressive festival setup created by Jerry Appelt.

The growing importance of ISE following the expo’s move to Barcelona was illustrated by the enormous attendance at this year’s trade fair. With the show having mushroomed since its origins in pure AV to embrace show technology in all its forms, GLP was one company that responded positively to the evident interest in the lighting segment.

In temporarily converting German Light Products’ ‘GLP’ acronym to ‘German Light Picturehouse’ for the duration of this month’s three-day PLASA Show in London, GLP UK’s Simon Barrett attributes the event’s success to a massive team effort – both from in house, and with the outsourced contractors.
