Christie® is proud to announce that its GS Series 1DLP® laser projectors are powering an innovative 360-degree immersive virtual reality lab at a prestigious national research university in Shanghai, China.
This state-of-the-art facility represents a milestone in immersive education, providing students with an unprecedented virtual reality experience. The stunning 2D and 3D visual effects displayed on the surrounding screen are achieved through 20 Christie DWU7062-GS laser projectors, delivering astonishing 16K super-resolution.
The projectors were supplied, commissioned, and installed by Christie's trusted partner, Liancheng Digital. This facility, equipped with 3D positioning and tracking capabilities, is the first of its kind developed by a Chinese university. It enhances talent development and creates new opportunities for experiential learning.

To ensure impeccable image quality and stability, Dr. Jiang's department closely collaborated with Liancheng Digital during the design, installation, and commissioning phases. Highlighting the advantages of Christie DWU7062-GS projectors, Dr. Jiang states, "Their compact size allowed for strategic placement to accommodate two columns within the lab while ensuring optimal heat dissipation. Additionally, during the commissioning phase, meticulous calibration of the internal optical path, brightness, and color uniformity of the projectors was performed. These efforts were crucial to ensuring that the VR system consistently delivered impeccable image clarity and uniformity on the screen".
According to Dr. Jiang, the creation of this immersive VR lab demonstrates the university's success in independently constructing a 360-degree virtual reality system and represents the culmination of extensive R&D efforts, including the use of lighthouse laser positioning technology.
