The Auditorium of the Cartuja Center CITE Theater reinforces its permanent Meyer Sound system with an additional stack of subwoofers and cinema surrounds, ensuring a reference-quality cinematic sound.
The Seville European Film Festival (SEFF), held at the Cartuja Center CITE Auditorium, has established itself as one of the essential events for film lovers.
To ensure that the sonic experience matches the 18 x 5-meter screen and its more than 780 seats, the hall has reinforced its permanent Meyer Sound audio system with a high-performance temporary technical rider.
SEFF is the major showcase for European auteur cinema, highlighting the boldest proposals and emerging talent across the continent. The Auditorium hosts the Official Section and screenings that include Spanish premieres of the most prominent films in the European landscape.
Honoring the artistic vision of these filmmakers—whose works compete at the world’s most prestigious festivals—requires the highest possible sound reproduction quality. For this reason, the key to the auditory experience lies in combining the venue’s fixed system with a cinema-specific upgrade that has enabled official Dolby certification for the entire system.
Low-frequency reinforcement for greater immersion
The Auditorium is equipped with a high-quality Meyer Sound base system: a PA consisting of 32 LEOPARD loudspeakers in line array and 6 2100-LFC flown subwoofers in cardioid configuration. In addition, the frontfill is covered by 6 UPM-1P units.
For the festival, this power has been expanded with significant low-frequency reinforcement and a spatial audio deployment. The system added 10 floor-mounted LFC subwoofers, including 4 2100-LFC models, 3 900-LFC models, and 3 ULTRA-X80 units. This deployment of a total of 16 subwoofers (6 flown plus 10 on the floor) is essential to ensure maximum quality of modern soundtracks and sound effects, offering a deep and controlled frequency response throughout the hall.
Cinema surrounds and the Dolby quality seal
The definitive step toward a true cinematic standard came with the inclusion of Meyer Sound’s cinema series loudspeakers for the side positions. ACHERON and HMS models were used for the lateral surround. These loudspeakers are specifically designed to provide the directivity, control, and phase response required for cinematic sound reproduction, ensuring an immersive and consistent spatial experience for every viewer.
The fact that the entire sound system has been certified by Dolby confirms the commitment of the Seville European Film Festival and the Cartuja Center CITE to the highest quality in exhibition.
This certification ensures that the setup meets the industry’s most rigorous acoustic and electroacoustic requirements, providing filmmakers and audiences with the immersive sound experience that major European productions deserve.
