The Kilden Performing Arts Centre in Kristiansand, Norway, is one of the most exciting venues in the Scandinavian countries for professionals in the performing arts and music. This center is home to the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra, Kilden Theatre, Kilden Opera and Kilden Culture, bringing together a wide variety of performances and content.
Given the wide range of programming that passes through its doors, from concerts and comedy to opera and theatre, the center needed a flexible and modular projection solution to enhance its visual capacity. The project was awarded through a public tender to Bravida, one of the leading providers of integrated installations in the Scandinavian region, which delivered a complete solution including the supply, installation and configuration of the equipment.
At the heart of the installation are two identical TITAN 4K RGB laser projectors—one in the Concert Hall and the other in the Theatre Hall. Both are equipped with the Modular Laser System (MLS) from Digital Projection’s Satellite range.
Installed across three rack-mounted modules, the Satellite TITAN system delivers absolute image quality and operational flexibility, perfectly meeting the venue’s demanding acoustic and redundancy conditions.
The projectors produce around 10,000 ISO lumens of brightness, optically combined into a single cable that powers the head. This combination achieves a total output of around 26,000 ISO lumens per projector. This modular configuration provides significant operational redundancy: in the event of a light source failure, the system can continue operating almost unaffected. Achieving this level of fault tolerance was essential, as it ensures high reliability and minimal downtime in such a demanding live performance environment.
To meet Kilden’s stringent acoustic requirements and fit within its strict spatial limitations, Bravida decided to take advantage of the Satellite range’s Modular Laser System, which allows noise-generating components to be installed in separate control rooms, leaving only the projection head in the performance spaces. This approach significantly reduces ambient noise levels while maintaining full brightness and image fidelity.
The modular design of the projection system provides numerous functional advantages. It is very easy to swap certain components (such as lenses, light sources and heads) between the two halls, minimizing interruptions in case of failure. Kilden particularly values this kind of flexibility, being a high-demand venue suitable for a wide range of content—from concerts and monologues to art installations, films and theatre productions.
Bravida supplied the main projection system and signal cabling, while Kilden’s own technical team managed the signal routing and integration. The venue’s existing infrastructure, including camera inputs and a central video mixing system, forms the backbone of content transmission. The system can accommodate both live productions and playback of pre-recorded content (video, presentations and mapping projections, among others). Bravida’s Head of Services, Audun Kolstad, explains the decisions that led them to choose Digital Projection products for the installation:

As an example of this expertise, Kolstad explains that during installation the projection distances and optical requirements changed, but Digital Projection was able to supply additional lenses to maintain flexible coverage, allowing the team to design several configurations tailored to different events and requirements.
