A layered lighting design to bring Los Cantadores to a large-scale stage

The Concierto del Cristo de La Laguna brought Los Cantadores together in a large-scale production developed by Basalto Producciones for Eventalia Group. Edu Baute was responsible for the lighting design, while Tinguaro Vega handled technical control.

The technical interest of the setup lies in how the different functions were distributed across several fixture families and integrated under a single control platform. Escala de Luz Lighting configured the system using equipment from MA Lighting, PROLIGHTS and Martin Professional, supplied by SeeSound.

A lighting architecture divided by function

Programming was centralized on a grandMA3 full-size. In a setup combining wash fixtures, profiles and effects fixtures, a common platform makes it possible to organize groups, positions and transitions from a single control surface, rather than treating each fixture family as an independent system.

What can be applied to other productions

• Separate coverage from precision. Wash fixtures provide the base layer of color and overall coverage, while profile fixtures add framing and control where the beam needs to be defined or specific areas of the stage need to be isolated.
• Reserve a layer for movement and effects. The use of fixtures with pixel mapping, dynamic effects and different modulation tools makes it possible to vary the visual scale of the show without relying solely on changes in intensity or color.
• Unify the programming. Centralizing the different fixture families on the same platform makes it easier to build coherent looks and coordinate transitions between washes, profiles and effects.
