Sommer cable brings electrical power and DMX signals to depths of up to 20 metres underwater

The new SC-AQUA MARINEX POWER DMX (item no. 500-0281AQ) combines electrical power and DMX/AES/EBU signals under a single jacket, designed for fountains, water features, architectural lighting and marine applications.

In fountains, interactive water features, architectural lighting installations and marine applications, where water, light and technology must work together, cabling is a critical factor. Sommer cable addresses this challenge with a hybrid cable that combines electrical power supply and DMX/AES/EBU data transmission in a single cable run.

What's inside

sommercable aquamarinex 2 HIThe SC-AQUA MARINEX POWER DMX combines three power conductors with a cross-section of 3 x 2.50 mm² and two pairs of 2 x 2 x 0.22 mm² for DMX or AES/EBU signals. This eliminates the need for parallel cable runs, resulting in cleaner and more efficient installations.

Designed for water

The outer jacket is made of PUR and is resistant to saltwater, freshwater and chlorinated water, making it suitable for fountains, water attractions, coastal installations and shipbuilding. A protective barrier that prevents transverse water penetration, absorbs moisture and equalises pressure stops moisture from entering and spreading inside the cable. The materials are halogen-free, and the cable is resistant to UV radiation, microbes and cold temperatures. It remains flexible even at low temperatures and can be coiled without difficulty.

Applications

It is suitable for both permanent installation at depths of up to 20 metres and long-term outdoor installations at events, amusement parks and hotel resorts. A single cable can connect DMX lighting consoles, spotlights, underwater lighting fixtures and control systems.

In wet or marine environments in particular, cables must do much more than simply transmit power and data. With the SC-AQUA MARINEX POWER DMX, we offer a hybrid solution that ensures maximum reliability even underwater, near the coast or in permanently installed light and water shows, while significantly simplifying installation, explains Marie-Kathrin Huber, Managing Director of Sommer cable.
