d&b audiotechnik introduces En-Space Custom Rooms, a service for customization and expansion of the En-Space features, the virtual acoustic engine within the immersive audio ecosystem of d&b Soundscape. Custom Rooms is designed to enable organizations, creatives, and artists to recreate acoustics with their unique signature in any environment.
This innovative offering, available in Q4 2024, represents a significant leap forward in personalized audio experiences.

The En-Space Custom Room concept provides clients with a powerful combination of flexibility and customization. Combined with our user-friendly electroacoustic concept, Custom Rooms will allow creators to transform their soundscapes to adapt to the reverberant responses of each concert hall or any interesting space, says Robb Allan, Senior Product Manager - Soundscape at d&b.
"For clients who want to recreate the acoustic atmosphere of a specific venue, such as a classical concert hall, we now offer a comprehensive custom measurement service in Soundscape", explains Simon Heinze, Senior Product Designer for Virtual Acoustics at d&b. "This service includes conducting an En-Space measurement in the designated venue using our specialized measurement equipment and loudspeakers. The resulting data is made exclusively available to the client but can also be shared with other users in the d&b library, subject to their agreement".
En-Space Custom Rooms revolutionizes the creation of acoustic environments, offering unprecedented flexibility and customization. It is a service provided by d&b that allows bespoke acoustic signatures to be created for each client through the comprehensive En-Space measurement method.
The DS100 Signal Engine processor now features three additional En-Space room memories, expanding creative possibilities. The straightforward installation of custom signatures via Web Remote and controllability through OSC enhances the user experience. Furthermore, the transferability of Custom Rooms to any type of environment allows clients to realize their sound vision across a variety of settings, covering both creative and technical requirements.
This service opens the door to a wide range of applications, from enhancing rehearsal spaces for orchestras performing outdoor concerts to multipurpose theaters and venues. En-Space Custom Rooms enables our clients to bring their acoustic designs to life, surpassing the limitations of traditional audio environments, adds Allan.
To further extend the versatility of the En-Space module, d&b is also introducing the d&b En-Space Control Plug-in, designed to integrate seamlessly into a digital audio workstation (DAW) or other plug-in host environments. This tool allows sound engineers and designers to control all En-Space parameters on the DS100 platform via the AES70 (OCA) protocol, enabling real-time parameter adjustments and precise workflow automation. The plug-in allows DAWs to record En-Space parameters as automation envelopes or snapshots, making it a powerful addition to the creative toolkit for everyone working with d&b Soundscape.
