This fabulous design from Scott Hinson brings a true alternative to the mostly quite nasty sounding injection moulded plastic screamers. The SB Audience drivers used in this design are of a quality level that by far surpasses those used in the majority of commercial two ways, even the higher priced and well respected brands.
Hinson has made a number of well documented design decisions which result in a compact easy to build ply cabinet to make this a truly portable PA two way.
This is a practical speaker for the Real World where you will be delighted by the natural vocals and where the dynamics of instruments truly come to life.
High power handling with minimal compression ensures you can play much louder and keep distortion low for a much more pleasing listener experience with excellent speech intelligibility. Ideal on their own for singer & songwriters, jazz, public speaking etc.
For larger crowds and venues, it is recommended to supplement with one or more capable 18" subwoofers making this design the perfect top end for a very versatile system and you will be surprised at the real world 135dB of undistorted Sound Pressure Level.

The Drivers
NERO-12MWN400D is a very capable yet lightweight 12 inch midwoofer due to its strong Neodymium magnet motor system. The motor system is further optimized with Inside/outside voice coil, distortion reducing shorting rings and a total transducer weight of just 4 Kg. At SB Audience we have spent countless hours in the listening room to find the best cone geometry, cone composition with manila pulp and a proprietary cone coating.
The top end is horn loaded and handled by the SB Audience Bianco-44CD-PK compression driver mounted on the SB Audience H250 horn. This excellent sounding tweeter and horn is surprisingly cost effective, yet has been praised by many enthusiasts and even made to “favourite/go-to” status for some.
