SB Audience proudly introduces this new high powered 18” double ferrite magnet motor subwoofer. We set out to push the limits for what can be achieved with a ferrite motor 18” subwoofer no holds barred.
With the added cost neodymium brings to a high performance transducer this new ferrite magnet subwoofer fills a gap in the market by elevating the performance level to that of neodymium but at the attractive price point of ferrite. In some instances the much lighter neodymium is an advantage but there are plenty of applications where a heavier transducer may be considered; when you prefer your subwoofers to go on the ground or perhaps not to be moved at all such as commercial cinema, club installations, sports arenas etc.
To achieve our goals of power handling, excursion and motor strength we have engineered the NERO-18SW1900D from the ground up. The double stacked magnet motor is impressive and a sight to be seen, with a total transducer mass of over 22 kilos (50 lb) this is a true heavyweight. A completely new basket was developed to enable extended long excursion, superior suspension stability with large dual spider landings, heat convection control, and of course superior mechanical strength to withstand the enormous forces and heavy motor structure.

The ultra linear high strength motor utilises both flow optimised pole vent, octa entry gap vents and our proprietary aluminium yoke cooling device for high convection thermal stability. A state of the art 4.5” interleaved sandwich voice coil sits at the business end and comfortably handles 3800 Watts of program power. The motor is designed with a strategically placed demodulation shorting ring dramatically reducing distortion and intermodulation artefacts throughout the entire operating range.
The heavy duty straight profile cone is made in house from specially formulated reinforced cellulose fibre pulp and is coated front and back for maximum water repellent properties.
