L-Acoustics continues to lead pro audio technology into the future with its commitment to pioneering pristine, powerful audio systems that were also the industry’s most efficient to operate.
Attendees of that year’s PLASA Show experienced, first-hand, at the L-Acoustics booth at the Kensington Olympia, L-Acoustics new products recently announced during the company’s Keynote hosted at the iconic Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
Attendees discovered the manufacturer’s newest products, including the L2 with its patented Progressive Ultra-Dense Line Source (PULS) technology. L Series comprised two elements designed to work together or independently: L2 above and L2D below. One L2 or L2D element provided the same contour as four K2 elements in a format that was 46% smaller and 40% lighter. The audio benefits of L Series encompassed industry-leading SPL per size, unparalleled consistency over the audience area, and improved rejection everywhere else. L Series also revolutionized deployment with a smaller, lighter footprint that reduced truck space and required fewer elements, cutting the number of actions needed to load in and out.
L Series was displayed on the L-Acoustics booth and showcased in the PLASA innovation gallery, where it was nominated for the PLASA Pioneer for Sustainability award.
Also present at the booth was the LA7.16 amplified controller. Launched earlier that year, the LA7.16 offered supreme flexibility to meet real-time power needs while offering a level of efficiency and sustainability unheard of in modern touring applications. The high-density format—16×16 architecture in a 2U format—powered more line array speakers than any similar-sized amplifier, meaning fewer racks on tour, which translated directly to energy and time savings along with the ability to address multichannel and hybrid productions while offering a level of efficiency and sustainability required in modern touring applications. The high-density format saved space, weight, and time in deployment.
In addition, the L-Acoustics booth featured an interactive L-ISA Studio workstation where sound engineers and artists could explore the immersive possibilities of L-ISA technology. Visitors were able to learn the software firsthand, gaining insight into the future of audio production and live sound. Developed to improve the workflow and unleash the creative potential of sound creators, L-ISA Studio seamlessly interfaced with leading digital audio workstations, show-control software, and game engines. It also offered compatibility with various 3D audio format outputs, including Dolby Atmos and multi-channel configurations.
Also on display at that year’s PLASA was Soka, the smaller sibling of the powerful Syva. Launched the previous year, Soka combined innovative line source technology with a sleek aesthetic featuring nine integrated 3.5-inch MF drivers and three one-inch HF transducers to transmit a wide 140-degree horizontal directivity and a highly controlled 26-degree vertical directivity. Soka and its companion SB6i subwoofer were both ultra-shallow at 3.9 inches—designed to be easily enclosed in-wall or discreetly mounted on-wall—yet were capable of tremendous power and bandwidth. Soka could also be combined with the larger SB10i subwoofer, making it ideal for main music systems in residential, commercial, luxury, and hospitality spaces. Rounding out the range of solutions was X4i, a superbly unobtrusive and highly weatherized coaxial loudspeaker tailored to the unique needs of installation applications.
