The LightShark range of DMX-based hardware lighting consoles from the Spanish manufacturer Equipson announces an exciting software update introducing many new and useful features.
LightShark, already known for providing users with a cost-effective hardware console with an easily accessible web-based interface, continues to change the world of traditional lighting control systems by offering a more agile workflow that significantly enhances the customer experience.
The latest software update (version 1.5.25) applies to all products in the LightShark range, including the hardware console LS-1 with assignable faders and rotary controls, the more affordable LS-Core, the hardware controller LS-Wing Open Sound Control (OSC), and three multiprotocol DMX streaming devices—collectively referred to as LS-NODE. These products cater to a variety of venues, from small theaters to large stadiums, providing lighting engineers the ability to control up to eight DMX universes and over 4000 DMX channels, all seamlessly integrated via smartphones and tablets. Furthermore, the range is fully compatible with equipment from other manufacturers, as the products operate with industry-standard DMX and ArtNet lighting protocols, as well as any operating system (Android, Linux, Windows, and macOS).
The latest software version introduces Record Merge, an exciting development that allows programmers to quickly include their information in the selected Cue—or in all Cues of a playback—without having to use the EDIT+UPDATE function. This feature is complemented by another innovation, Record Remove, enabling programmers to swiftly delete information from a Cue or all Cues of a playback without having to edit them one by one. Additionally, it is now possible to use the EDIT function multiple times, allowing programmers to access information from different Cues to update the first selected for recording a new Cue.
We are very excited about the new features offered by this latest software update because they allow customers to significantly improve their workflows. By saving time and making LightShark products even more intuitive, we can provide lighting engineers with additional control over their events, enabling them to create even more spectacular light shows, states Alejo Cevera, Product Development Manager of LightShark.
The new software update also implements ArtNet v4 and increases the number of available ArtNet universes from four to eight. The inclusion of Digital Patch allows users to assign any console universe to any network universe, even if they have different protocols. Additionally, users can now individually enable or disable universes.
Another new feature is Unicast, which defines the specific IP of the node or device to which the universe information should be sent. Furthermore, it is now possible to automatically detect remote LSW-1 devices on the network and define which network interface the remote is connected to.
The final advantage offered by the new software update is the inclusion of a WEB user manual on LightShark. This manual is entirely web-based and provides users access to various step-by-step video tutorials and screen recordings, allowing LightShark users to delve into the product's capabilities and learn exciting new ways to control and enhance their light shows.
