Robe commemorated an important event at Prolight+Sound 2024: the celebration of its 30 years, three decades of proudly embracing the passion, joys, and challenges of the entertainment and show industry, and of constantly bringing new technology and ideas to the world of creative and visual lighting design.
There were new products, with special attention on the iBOLT™: a super bright high-power spotlight designed to leave people amazed with its brightness and features. Other devices to be released include the iESPRITE® Fresnel, the T15 Fresnel™, the T15 PC™, the Footsie1™ and Footsie2™, the T32 Cyc™ and the T32 Cyc™ Slim, the iProMotion™ Landscape + iProMotion™ Portrait, the FORTE® Fresnel/PC, and the iSpiiderX®.
The iT12 Fresnel™ was also launched, a powerful outdoor wash spotlight that includes an ingenious patented F2LTM fresnel lens system, composed of two lenses designed with a smooth outer surface to eliminate the accumulation of debris commonly found on outdoor fresnel lenses. The iFORTE® LTX LightMaster will be previewed.
Robe presented the last show of its live performance trilogy Power of Imagination, which energized visitors enjoying non-stop action on stage with a high-energy light show designed to showcase the creativity and potential of the new products in their natural environment. Power of Imagination was presented several times a day, and in between, an interactive presentation Voice of God timed on the stand highlighted the best features of the new products.
The stand, the largest Robe to date at any Prolight fair to emphasize the importance of the event, featured two exhibition areas where visitors could explore the products in depth.
Robe's flow of information continued outside of Hall 12.1 where the Robe Showtruck was parked for additional demonstrations.
The architectural LED lighting brand of Robe, Anolis, also had its own space on the stand and showcased products from its new Lyrae and Agame ranges, as well as its flagship Eminere, Ambiane, and Calumma ranges, while the lighting control solutions specialist Artistic Licence also had its own area.
Product Launch
iBOLT™
The iBOLTTM is a unique, innovative, and extremely bright device being the real first replacement for conventional 7K xenon search projectors on the market. With the same feature set as Robe's revolutionary and universally popular MegaPointe®, the iBOLT can be a beam, spot, wash, and effects light device for use on stage and outdoors.
The LSW-5™ white phosphor laser light source produces super powerful light beams for optimal performance and range, combined with the latest searchlight and Skyflower technology, plus very low energy consumption, weight, and compact size in this incredible device.
The 300 mm front lens of the iBOLT has precision optics to create high-definition beams that are adjustable through a zoom from 0.4° to 8.5°. SpektraBeam™ is a patented effects engine that produces transformative lighting experiences and a CMY color wheel + with a DataSwatch™ library unlocks a vast almost unlimited range of colors.
The full effects package of the iBOLT includes gobo wheels, patented multi-level stackable MLP™ prisms, and continuous PAN rotation.
ScanGuard™ is a pending patent continuous safety monitoring feature with automatic cut-off to prevent direct viewing of the source, and to cope with the most challenging outdoor environmental conditions, the device benefits from Robe's patented IP protection technologies POLAR+™, EMS™, and RAINS™.
T15™ Fresnel and T15 PC™
This is a device for television studios and theaters that features Robe's new ZoomStatTM system with stationary fresnel or PC lens (patent pending) and a motorized zoom range of 10° to 72° with a soft fresnel style light output and a CRI of 95 that is perfect for natural skin tones.
With ZoomStatTM incorporating a stationary fresnel or PC front lens, an impressively wide beam angle exceeding 70° is produced.
Along with motorized zoom functionality, ZoomStat™ allows adjusting the beam/wash dispersion in three different ways: remotely from the console, via a motorized fader conveniently located on the side of the device, or through backlit and easy-to-use control buttons located on the back panel of the device. The device offers CMY or RGB color control with a virtual CCT range of 2,700K to 8,000K. Robe's flicker-free Cpulse™ management is ideal for use with all the latest camera systems.
The 350W MSL-TE™ LED engine, designed, developed, and manufactured in-house, offers excellent output of 11,960 lumens, and other benefits include AirLOC™ for less waste and noise. The T15 PC version of the device is also available with identical features.
iT12 Fresnel™
The device features a newly developed and patented Fresnel F2LTM lens, designed to meet outdoor IP65/IP66 requirements. It is easy to clean due to its smooth surface, while improving the homogeneity of the light output across the 10:1 zoom range, from a tight beam of 6° to a large impressive wash of 60°.
To produce versatile and uniform lighting across areas through various environments, the iT12 Fresnel™ stands out, offering exceptional color reproduction and robust protection. This uniquely designed lighting device is a modular solution tailored to the controlled lighting requirements in outdoor areas.
The iSE-MSL-TE™ 500W Multi-Spectral TRANSFERABLE ENGINE LED source offers selectable CMY, RGB, or individual color emitter control, calibrated whites, and variable CCT from 2,700 to 8,000K, a CRI of over 95, and an output of 11,000 lumens.
Utilizing Robe's TRANSFERABLE ENGINE (TE™) technology, the T Series color refinement and reliable reproducibility, the iT12 Fresnel™ is an advanced solution to operate in a variety of weather conditions and environments.
BARS™ locks the motorized zoom in position, even during the power cycle; RAINS™, active internal microclimate management, controls humidity, temperature, and pressure; POLAR+™ maintains instant availability at temperatures down to minus 50 degrees Celsius; parCoat™ is a unique hydrophobic, oleophobic, and particle-resistant lens coating.
It also features flicker-free Cpulse™ management to work with camera and vision systems and the previously described F2L™ system.
iESPRITE® Fresnel
This is a new generation of outdoor use Fresnel lens lighting devices, powered by Robe's TETM (TRANSFERABLE ENGINE) technology with the iSE-TE™ 650W HP (high power) and HCF (high color fidelity) LED engines, which are easy to install, swap, and replace as needed.
The device is equipped with a newly developed and patented Fresnel F2LTM lens, designed to meet outdoor IP65/IP66 requirements. It is easy to clean and improves the homogeneity of the light output in the 10:1 zoom range, from a tight beam of 6° to a large wash of 62°.
The iESPRITE Fresnel has a zoom range of 6° to 62°, CMY/CTO + 2 color wheels, and the patented ChromaTintTM feature. This technology allows adjusting the desired delta UV to give more greenish or pinkish hues of white light output in the CCT range through a dedicated control channel. Other key features are the internal 4Door™ barn door module and RotaScrim™, an internal Scrim module with a graduated filter for asymmetrical positional control. Both are patented solutions from Robe.
Humidity, temperature, and pressure are monitored, managed, and controlled with Robe's IP65 rated RAINS™ management system.
The need for Pan and Tilt calibration movement can be eliminated through MAPS™, with other useful features including POLAR+™ technology, flicker-free Cpulse™ management, and the parCoat™ lens coating.
Footsie1™ and Footsie2™ Slim
Two new variants of Robe's latest generation low-profile footlights further reduce the footprint with a single cable tray. This IP65-rated LED footlight system can be used anywhere: in theaters, on concert stages, and along walkways and scenic elements of any kind.
The devices are available with warm white (CRI 90+), adjustable white light, or RGBW sources, and are quick and simple to connect via lengths of 60 cm and 120 cm.
An innovative SPREAD™ system helps to eliminate side glare towards the audience, and the unique self-contained storage tray can hide any loose power, audio, or data cables, eliminating this frequent tripping hazard.
BluMark™ safety provides a subtle low-level blue LED indication at the edges of the stage, without affecting lighting states. Additionally, the PIP™ (performer indication point), consisting of separately controlled RGB LEDs at 10 cm spaces, allows performers to have digital marks for critical moments during the show.
iSpiiderX®
The IP65-rated iSpiiderX® has an advanced protection minimalist design with a low weight of 18 kg and is an impressive 13,100 lumens RGBW LED wash luminaire. Dynamic visual effects can be achieved using its individual pixel mapping capabilities, and the popular built-in Flower effect is useful for creating additional stunning designs, along with a variable zoom from 4° to 50°.
DataSwatch™ filters offer a range of pre-programmed colors and hues, including the most used whites: 2,700K, 3,200K, 4,200K, 5,600K, and 8,000K, with an excellent tungsten emulation effect. EasyClean™ is a newly designed and patented "sandwich" lens system for simple cleaning and time-saving maintenance, and the non-reflective front lens is ideal for broadcast applications.
The device's IP65-rated RAINS™ management system means it is suitable for outdoor use and includes the MAPS™ system and POLAR+™ technology, along with flicker-free Cpulse™ management.
T32 Cyc™ Slim
Cyc lighting has long been an art in itself, and this is a low-profile, interconnectable asymmetrical cyclorama device for covering any stage or large surface area.
The DataSwatch™ library provides a quick selection of pre-programmed colors, with tungsten emulation for seamless integration with existing traditional lighting systems. Colors are perfectly represented, with CR ratings of 96 and TLCI of 97, and RGB or CMY color mixing, with individual emitter control for advanced users offering faster programming.
The devices are quiet, making them ideal for drama theaters or orchestra venues with L3™ 18-bit dimming for refined fades to black.
T32 Cyc™
Designed in collaboration with some of the world's leading lighting designers, theaters, and operas, Robe's T32 Cyc™ offers all the performance, tools, subtlety, and control to help make designs even more exciting and visually stimulating.
Effective cyclorama lighting has always been a challenge, but this product addresses all those past issues and achieves greater reach, smoother coverage, and more potent visual impact than ever before in an LED luminaire.
The low-profile and easily interconnectable T32 Cyc™ contains powerful multi-chip RGBBAL LEDs to generate the highest light levels and faithfully reproduce those full-spectrum colors and hues preferred by designers worldwide.
Opti-6™ an asymmetric optic system with a 6:1 height-distance ratio produces even flat field coverage even when in close proximity to the cyclorama, freeing valuable stage space for performers, scenery, props, etc.
From the top or base of the cyclorama, Robe's unique and patented motorized VertiSpot™ feature provides vertical crossover control, superior blend, and vertical output variation.
Four individually controllable zones provide increased variations and effects and motorized tools facilitate scene changes in fractions of a second, giving designers a scope beyond manually adjusted and time-consuming conventional luminaires!
The T32 Cyc™ features the color consistency of the T series and integrates with other lights, thanks to a virtually controlled CCT range of 2,700K to 8,000K, in addition to calibrated whites, the integrated DataSwatch™ color library, and tungsten emulation. All colors are represented with exceptional CR ratings of 96 and TLCI of 97, and RGB or CMY color mixing control offers faster programming.
FORTE® Fresnel/PC
This is a new variant in the popular FORTE® range from Robe, a high-power wash luminaire for television, theaters, and concert stages and a long-awaited true replacement for 2.5kW HMI fresnel lights.
The FORTE® Fresnel PC features a TE™ 1,000W XP (Xtra Power) white 6,700K LED engine designed, developed, patented, and manufactured in-house that offers an intense light output of 40,500 lumens (fresnel) and 41,000 (PC).
There are CMY/CTO + 2 color wheels along with CRI 80/90 filters and ChromaTintTM. This technology allows adjusting the desired delta UV to give more greenish or pinkish hues of white light across the CCT range through a dedicated control channel.
Additionally, it features Robe's internal 4Door™ barndoors system with individual control of the 4 leaves and rotation of +/- 90° of the complete module (also patented).
RotaScrim™ is a patented graduated filter with positional control for asymmetrical light output and hotspot elimination, and it is very quiet for noise-sensitive environments. AirLOC™, with no airflow over optics, reduces the necessary cleaning times, and flicker-free Cpulse™ management allows its use with the latest camera systems.
iProMotion™ Landscape + iProMotion™ Portrait
The Robe iProMotion™ video and moving head effects projector with IP65 rating is now available in both landscape and portrait configurations for indoor and outdoor use, ideal for advertising, commercial promotions, car showrooms, clubs, and bars.
The devices offer 1000 ANSI lumens of output with a long-lasting LED source, with RGB and CMY color mixing capabilities; digital gobos, graphic effects, images, and videos, in addition to a wide range of built-in effects.
Keystone, iris, and motorized focus provide total control of visual creations with the ability to load custom artwork, photographs, and videos, and stream live multimedia content via RTSP.
The optional ADM™ (automatic distance meter) keeps the projection sharp and focused automatically, and Robe's IP-rated RAINS™ management system allows monitoring and control of humidity, temperature, and pressure.
The reduced energy consumption and POLAR+™ technology maintain the luminaire's instant availability in sub-zero conditions.
New Products
First shown since the recent launches at PLASA and/or LDI 2023 were the iFORTE® LTX, iESPRITE®, iPAINTE®, iBeam 350™, and iTetra2™, all expanding the complete range of Robe's iSERIES luminaires for outdoors, indoors, and any type of environments.
Serious attention has been given to Robe's iSERIES luminaires, which feature several very interesting patented technologies that keep them at the forefront. They are also designed to be nearly identical to the standard products of each range, maximizing flexibility and facilitating the combination of IP-rated and standard luminaires.
The iFORTE® LTX and iFORTE® LTX FS (Follow Spot), launched at the end of 2023, have already become highly demanded products and benchmarks for medium to large-sized shows, events, and tours.
iFORTE® LTX WB
This is the brightest luminaire on the market with a definitive long-throw LED wash beam for all environments, developed for stadium shows, concerts, and any event where intensity over massive distances is needed.
Powered by Robe's TRANSFERABLE iSE-TE™ 1000W XP (Xtra Performance) LED engine, designed, developed, patented, and manufactured in-house, this produces an incredible and unmatched 335,000 Lux at 5 meters distance.
Innovative optics achieve absolute WashBeam functionality, and the FORTE® LTX WB can operate in various ways. The standard optical mode allows the widest coverage from 3.5° to 52°. Using the iris, the beam can be narrowed for coverage from 2° to 52°.
The XR7™ eXtreme Reach Follow Spot technology is a new and innovative technology that offers stadium-level performance with an ultra-narrow beam from 0.7 to 2° for sharp and incisive beams without loss of intensity due to an iris activated at long distances.
The powerful TRANSFERABLE ENGINE data capture technology from Robe offers all the benefits of field swap, cost-effective replacement, in addition to the ability to keep up with LED development to ensure an exceptionally long lifespan of the luminaire. The iFORTE® LTX WB can create a stunning visual statement with its beautiful solid beam and 245 mm front lens. The device features CamFit™, which is pre-wired and pre-balanced for the addition of an IP65-rated RoboSpot™ camera if needed.
iFORTE® LTX FS
This is the definitive long-throw, high-power LED wash beam for all environments with an integral camera for use with the RoboSpot™ system.
The device redefines the limits of output, optical excellence, and performance while maintaining the subtleties and nuances of theatrical precision, Robe's iFORTE® LTX FS from the IP65-rated iSERIES of Robe, is a next-generation WashBeam luminaire with an integral camera for live concert tours, indoors or outdoors.
The iFORTE® LTX FS features a Full HD digital camera mounted on the head, with parCoat™ lens protection to ensure a clear image even in adverse weather conditions. The IP65-rated camera features 32x optical and 32x digital zoom and is suitable for low light levels of up to 0.05 lux.
Powered by Robe's latest and most powerful TRANSFERABLE iSE-TE™ 1,000W XP (Xtra Performance) LED engine, with IP65 rating, this produces an incredible and unmatched 355,000 lx at 5 meters distance.
RoboSpot, full network capabilities
Full network capabilities are now available for Robe's popular remote tracking system RoboSpot, which can be integrated with IP networks.
Thanks to the foresight of implementing RDMNet in Robe's products, the existing capabilities of remote device management are taken to the next level. This advanced protocol standardizes behavior and configuration over flat or routed network structures.
Device discovery, configurations, and operations, especially over long distances, can now be performed directly between the RoboSpot system and Robe's luminaires, eliminating the need to add other equipment like splitters or nodes.
The process of setting DMX addresses, DMX modes, or personality preferences remotely in Robe's luminaires is now unified whether wired, wireless, or via the network.
By integrating RDMNet into the products, customers can manage their devices as efficiently and effectively as possible remotely. This integration allows seeing changes made by other controllers, providing a level of flexibility and control previously unavailable.
Anolis
The Anolis LyraeTM range facilitates challenging recessed floor installations, starting with the LyraeTM XS Fix MC. The high light output from its powerful LEDs can be harnessed with different optics, from narrow to wide and a bi-symmetrical option, and the devices can be fitted with anti-slip glass meeting the highest safety standards without any impact on their excellent color mixing.
The new Anolis AgameTM luminaire is a multi-functional IP-rated solution designed to highlight window perimeters and arches. Available in 8W, it produces a uniformly stunning monochromatic or RGBW/RGBA light line, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of architectural facades. A 180° beam angle ensures uniform light distribution over a wide area.
The CalummaTM, Ambiane®, and Eminere® ranges will also be displayed, showcasing the constant expansion and inventiveness of Anolis's products.
The CalummaTM M & S are now available with asymmetric optics created for use on streets, roads, and paths where reducing unwanted glare and efficiency are paramount. The unit is designed for pole-mounted applications that optimize spacings and improve sustainability.
The Ambiane® SP range has been expanded with an adjustable version of the downlight and a new pendant version offering the same key features: homogeneous light output, power balance, 18-bit dimming, and ChromaTintTM +/- green TV compatible control. Currently available in Pure White, Tuneable White, RGBW, and Tungsten Dim formats. The Ambiane® SP16 pendant remote, the smallest of the range, will be on stand demonstration, offering an efficient, powerful, and high-quality solution for applications with lower ceilings.
Artistic Licence
As part of Robe's business group, Artistic Licence exhibited a selection of its ubiquitous lighting control technology products, popular across the entertainment industry and favorites for system integrators and installers.
Manufactured by Artistic Licence for Robe, two new products were displayed on the stand: the Robe Rack Gateway RDM and the Robe Truss Split RDM.
Avolites
Avolites was delighted to be part of Robe's PL+S team this year, celebrating the 30th anniversary. Titan v17 was launched, its popular lighting control software, which is also celebrating its 15th anniversary this year.
The Avo stand featured the brand's most well-known and loved consoles, D9 and T3, as well as Arena and Tiger Touch II, in addition to Avo's Q series media servers, which ran a beta version of its new Prism One media software (license level), set to release in spring.
The existing synergies and vision among all these Robe companies were reflected in the arrangement of the stand at this special anniversary fair for Robe, which exhibited at its first Prolight in 1994. The exhibition itself has significance in the company's history and in the development and growth of the brand, reflecting an incredible journey from its humble beginnings to market-leading technologies, products, and philosophies.
