The innovative ColourTune software from Elation provides exceptional control over both intensity and color accuracy across its full range of full-spectrum LED lighting devices.
The Elation ColourTune technology allows users to tailor light output to their specific requirements, focusing on both intensity and color accuracy, thus offering a complete set of tools for creating high-quality lighting designs.
We have spent over a year in research, development, and testing to develop this ColourTune technology," comments Bob Mentele, Associate Product Director at Elation, who has played a key role in its development.
"This sophisticated software marks a significant advance in lighting control and precision," adds Mentele, "and it will greatly benefit designers looking to maximize the potential of our full-spectrum LED products, including those already on the market."
The creation of this technology has been driven by feedback from the lighting design community, who have called for better color fidelity and more options for controlling color and CCT, with ColourTune being the response to these requests, Mentele assures.
Elation ColourTune, which can be activated or deactivated as needed, not only improves quality but also facilitates color uniformity among different fixtures.
This technology is already implemented in certain Elation fixtures such as the Fuze Theatre, KL Par FC, KL Par FC IP, and SŌL I Blinder, and will be included in all new full-spectrum fixtures. Updates for existing Fuze and KL models are underway, ensuring that customers can take advantage of this innovation.
Key features of ColourTune
- Color adjustment: users can choose between Maximum Output, Maximum Fidelity, or a balanced mix of both, to achieve optimal lighting performance suited for any application.
CCT and color settings: by selecting the highest output, the fixture prioritizes light intensity while maximizing color fidelity. Conversely, when maximum fidelity is chosen, the quality of the light is emphasized, increasing the intensity.
- Output balance: the new 'Uniform' setting maintains consistent intensity across multiple fixtures of the same type and ensures a close match in CCT and colors between different models sharing Elation's full-spectrum engine. This results in a more uniform system. The 'Bright' setting allows a fixture to emit its brightest levels but reduces color tone uniformity and CCT tolerances between devices.
- 16-bit CCT control: provides precise control over color temperature, with detailed adjustments as small as 1 degree Kelvin for accurate reproduction of desired lighting tones. It is an essential tool for TV and film productions requiring high precision.
- White point adjustment: the user sets a desired CCT value and then blends colors from that point to achieve the ideal tone, either manually or by selecting from a virtual swatch book. This allows for adjustment of color saturation levels through the CCT channel and matches the base color temperature between incandescent and LED fixtures, achieving more uniform tones.
- Warm dimming: emulates the warm glow of incandescent lamps by reducing the color temperature as the fixture is dimmed. With 16-bit control, smooth temperature transitions are possible at any point in the range from 8,500K to 2,400K.
- Virtual Swatch Book fading: effortlessly slides between two color selections from a virtual swatch book, creating smooth transitions and dynamic lighting effects, with options to adjust pre-configured color points for additional color customization.
