Tampa, on Florida’s west coast, has established itself as a cultural and entertainment epicenter in the United States. In this context, the Yuengling Center stands as the reference multipurpose venue. Located on the University of South Florida campus, this arena with a capacity of 10,500 seats hosts large-scale events.
On February 15, 2025, the Yuengling Center hosted one of the most anticipated stops of the 22 Caminos Tour by Cuban artist Bebeshito. Known for his overwhelming energy and unique connection with the audience, the Havana-born singer has rapidly risen in the international music scene, blending Caribbean rhythms with contemporary urban trends.
To ensure a high-quality sonic experience, the event production entrusted Limitless Productions, who selected DAS Audio systems to meet the concert’s technical demands.
Challenge
The main challenge was adapting an arena designed for sporting events into an acoustically optimal space for an urban music concert, which posed several challenges. First, the Yuengling Center was not designed to host this type of event, increasing the likelihood of excessive reverberation due to its reflective surfaces and scale. Without an adequate sound system, the clarity and intelligibility of the show’s audio would be at risk.
Another major challenge was the instrumental variety present in Bebeshito’s band. His concerts feature a wide range of musicians and styles, from percussion to wind and string instruments, making it essential to ensure that every nuance was clearly distinguished. Therefore, a system optimized to avoid sound loss in the mix or compromise the balance between elements was crucial.
Moreover, Bebeshito’s music is characterized by prominent low frequencies and bass sounds, essential for creating a vibrant, festive atmosphere. However, these bass sounds can mask or distort higher frequencies if not properly managed. Controlling the dispersion of these low frequencies and preventing them from negatively affecting the rest of the sound was key to the event’s success.
Solution
To address these challenges, Limitless Productions chose DAS Audio’s LARA systems. A perfect choice for this event due to their cardioid technology, which prevented the sound from contaminating unwanted spaces and bouncing off walls and ceilings, which could have caused cancellation or distortion of the audio.
The sound system was carefully distributed to ensure uniform coverage throughout the venue. At the main PA, 14 LARA systems per side were configured in an L/R setup, plus 16 LARA-SUBs in front of the stage, and 6 ARA-P28 systems as frontfills, providing optimal sound dispersion without compromising clarity in any area of the Yuengling Center.
To cover the side areas, 2 outfills line arrays were installed, each composed of 8 SARA systems, ensuring precise sound delivery to the sectors furthest from the main PA.
Additionally, side fills were implemented with 8 SARA-100 systems and 4 SARA SUBs, optimizing lateral coverage and eliminating dead spots in the audience’s audio experience.
With this deployment, a consistent auditory experience was ensured throughout the Yuengling Center, guaranteeing that every spectator enjoyed powerful, clear, and balanced sound regardless of their location. On stage, 6 EVENT-M210A monitors were used, allowing the artists to hear themselves precisely and thus ensure an optimal performance.
Results
Thanks to the work and expertise of Limitless Productions using the cardioid LARA system from DAS Audio, an outstanding acoustic result was achieved at the Yuengling Center. Sound clarity, effective low-frequency control, and uniform coverage allowed all attendees to fully enjoy the show.
