Screen iL moves to Redge Media TVaaS and debuts on Roku

The streaming service for Israelis abroad has gone live on Redge Technologies’ TVaaS platform, with its apps published in all relevant stores and its full user base migrated from legacy systems. It is Redge’s first deployment for end users in the United States and its first commercial launch on Roku OS.

The service

Screen iL is a subscription-based legal streaming service that brings Israeli television and entertainment to audiences worldwide: 20 live Israeli TV channels, hundreds of series and more than a thousand movies in one place. Founded in 2020 by leading figures in the Israeli media and entertainment industry, it serves Israelis living abroad, with its largest audience in the United States. RGE Media Solutions acts as systems integrator (SI), overseeing the platform migration, the service launch and ongoing operational management.

Partnering with Redge Technologies marks an important milestone in Screen iL evolution. Their advanced technology provides the foundation to take our service to the next level, enabling us to introduce innovative features, continuously enhance the viewing experience, and expand our reach across smart TVs and connected devices worldwide. With this new platform, we are better positioned to bring Israeli television and entertainment to millions of Israelis living abroad, wherever they are and on whichever device they choose, said Ben Berner, Co-Founder & CEO of Screen iL.

What was developed

The work spanned most of the Redge SDP (Service Delivery Platform), including its Portal, DAM, Tracking and Ecommerce components. The most extensive changes were made in the Portal, affecting both the BackOffice and the client-facing applications:

  • Live channels and catch-up: playback was fully redesigned and aligned with the electronic programme guide (EPG).
  • Onboarding: a new user flow with a login wall, where purchasing a subscription is a required step after account creation.
  • Ecommerce: in-app purchase (IAP) completed for the mobile apps, a full rewrite of the Stripe integration, promotional codes for subscriptions and subscription plans that let users upgrade or downgrade their package.

These enhancements were delivered across 10 applications and 2 languages, including right-to-left (RTL) support.

Why it matters

For Redge Technologies, the project opens the US market to its technology and extends it to Roku OS, one of the most widely adopted streaming ecosystems in North America. Because it was delivered under the TVaaS model, all development work feeds directly into the ongoing evolution of the Redge Media product suite.

Redge Technologies, part of the Play Group and present on the market since 2007, develops OTT and edge computing technologies in Central and Eastern Europe. Its flagship solution, Redge Media, is an end-to-end OTT platform available in PaaS and on-premises models, combining a Service Delivery Platform and a Video Delivery Platform with a CDN that runs on an edge computing architecture.
