Shure announced a firmware update for Axient Digital ® PSM, introducing new features designed to improve reliability, simplify setup, and address the real-world challenges faced by monitor engineers and production teams.
This update, developed directly from customer feedback and real-world product usage, reinforces Shure’s commitment to continuous improvement and to supporting professionals working in increasingly complex RF environments.
The update includes Single Carrier Narrowband (SC), a new digital transmission option designed to provide users with a more familiar and reliable starting point, particularly for engineers transitioning from traditional analogue in-ear monitoring systems to digital workflows.
SC Narrowband delivers consistent performance without requiring complex RF coordination or advanced antenna configurations, making it ideal for fast-paced productions and smaller or more challenging environments.
This update reflects what we’ve learned about how Axient Digital PSM is being used in real-world touring, broadcast, and live event productions. While many customers have successfully adopted advanced modes such as multichannel wideband and spatial diversity, we understand that not every production requires those approaches. SC Narrowband: designed for greater resilience
SC Narrowband is designed to behave more like traditional narrowband IEM systems while retaining the advantages of a modern digital platform. It delivers the same low latency and efficient spectrum usage as existing digital narrowband modes, with enhanced stability in demanding conditions.
This is particularly useful for artists performing near reflective metal surfaces or in environments where setup time and RF planning are limited. Engineers can now choose the transmission method that best suits each artist or stage area.
Axient Digital PSM continues to support a combination of wideband, narrowband, and analogue FM operation, allowing productions to combine different workflows and integrate existing equipment as needed.
Enhanced CueMode for a smoother workflow
The firmware update also introduces a significant enhancement to CueMode, which now supports multiple transmission modes. In addition, entries can now be previewed before being applied, and changes only take effect once confirmed by the user. This enables engineers to navigate entries more efficiently and manage different configurations in complex production environments, eliminating one of the main operational challenges.

The Axient Digital PSM firmware update is now available through ShureCloud or Shure Update Utility. Shure recommends that customers review the updated guidelines and best practices to ensure optimal performance across all supported transmission modes.
