Prism, Avolites' new media control system for connected shows

Avolites has introduced Prism, an intuitive media control interface that enables users to incorporate dynamic visual content into any production without the need for complex programming. Its launch follows a successful early access testing period.

An increasing number of productions require lighting, video and pixel mapping to work together within the same creative environment, often without a dedicated media team. For designers, operators and production crews who lack extensive experience in this area—or simply do not have the time to experiment with complex media workflows—managing audiovisual content can be intimidating, time-consuming or difficult to access. Prism has been developed to change that.

Designed for both lighting and video professionals, Prism simplifies the media control process without compromising the results, providing a clear and intuitive way to create, manage and control content with outstanding visual impact.

Since pioneering the integration of live lighting and media fifteen years ago, Avolites has been involved in some of the world's most prestigious live music productions, sporting events, broadcast productions and performing arts shows, including two Olympic Opening Ceremonies, as well as productions featuring Coldplay, Maluma, The Rio Hotel Las Vegas and The Script. Prism builds on that expertise to make intuitive and creative media control accessible to a wider audience.

When connected to Titan via Synergy, Prism integrates media control into the Avolites connected ecosystem, bringing lighting and video together within a single workflow. This allows users to manage media content alongside lighting, enabling screens, displays and pixel-mapped fixtures to integrate far more naturally with the console and the overall lighting design.

Prism can also be used as a standalone media control platform, making it an ideal solution for live shows, touring productions, venues, clubs, theatres, museums, galleries, attractions and installations where video content, screens or pixel-mapped fixtures need to be managed, updated or played back consistently.

This launch builds on Avolites' extensive experience in media control, bringing that expertise into a far more accessible interface for today's lighting and video professionals. As both disciplines continue to converge, Prism offers a practical solution for controlling dynamic visual content within a fully connected production environment.

Its key features include a straightforward and intuitive visual workflow; Titan integration via Synergy; pixel mapping adjustment tools; timecode triggering; Media Manager with broad format support, including HAP, NotchLC and DXV; AiM encoding for smoother high-resolution playback and 10-bit colour support; configurable surfaces, layers and regions; 17 blend modes; and multiple output options, including physical outputs, NDI and RTSP.

Access to Prism is provided through the new and more powerful AvoKey Collection & Travel Collection, available in six versions: A1+, A2+, A3+, T1+, T2+ and T3 Bundle, depending on the number of channels or display outputs required. When running Prism, the A1+ and T1+ versions unlock one display output, A2+ and T2+ unlock two, while A3+ and the T3 Bundle unlock three display outputs.

Support for DMX pixels will also be available before the end of the year, offering capacities of up to 1,024 pixels (A1+ and T1+), 2,048 pixels (A2+ and T2+) and 4,096 pixels (A3+ and T3 Bundle). Each pixel can be configured using between one and four DMX channels, providing everything from simple intensity control to full RGBW functionality.

With Prism, we wanted to make media control accessible without limiting users' creative possibilities. We know that more and more designers and operators are being asked to manage video, screens and pixel-mapped fixtures as part of the overall production, and we wanted to provide them with a simpler way to do so. Prism streamlines the process while still delivering the creative control needed to achieve impressive visual results. It also brings together everything Avolites has learned over years of working in both lighting and media control, and we're excited to make that expertise available to a much wider audience, said Jon Hole, Product and Marketing Manager at Avolites.
