In 2018, ChamSys introduced its QuickQ series of consoles, designed to make lighting control more accessible to users with different levels of experience. Eight years later, the manufacturer has updated the concept with the new QuickQ+ generation, featuring increased processing power, new capabilities and upgraded hardware.
During its launch, ChamSys' official announcement promised that its new consoles would put "more powerful lighting control in the hands of students, theatre and house of worship volunteers, and programmers, regardless of experience level or budget". It also added that "even established professionals will find the quick and easy console to be a valuable tool for running smaller-scale shows".
That same approach continues with the new QuickQ+ range of consoles, now backed by more advanced technology and greater capabilities than the generation introduced eight years ago.
Thanks to this technology, the five next-generation ChamSys Quick products being introduced today are faster and smarter than their predecessors, giving users of all experience levels greater creative capacity, improved reliability and a clearer path towards larger productions and installations.
QuickQ+ is about giving users more room to grow: more universes, more responsive operation and more dependable hardware, while preserving the straightforward workflow that made QuickQ popular. Every QuickQ+ model features increased processing power and a larger 11.6-inch touchscreen for smoother operation and easier programming. In essence, there is now more creative freedom across the range, said James Harrison, ChamSys Product and Support Manager.
The five products in the QuickQ+ series are:
- QuickQ 10+ – Offers one universe, 20 multifunction faders and cue-stack and chase playback control.
- QuickQ 20+ – Features four universes, 20 multifunction faders, 10 playback faders, four attribute encoders and two physical DMX outputs.
- QuickQ 30+ – Offers six universes, 40 multifunction faders, 10 playback faders, four attribute encoders and four physical DMX outputs.
- QuickQ Studio+ – This new model features four universes, a 19-inch rack/desktop format with reversible rack ears, 10 playback faders, four 10Scene ports and two physical DMX outputs.
- QuickQ Rack+ – Features six universes, a 1U 19-inch rack format, ten scene buttons and a rack-friendly form factor designed for permanent installations.
Speaking about the QuickQ Studio+ model, Harrison said: The new QuickQ Studio+ also extends the QuickQ range into studio, installation, hospitality, worship and AV applications. It is particularly well suited to studios, hospitality venues, houses of worship and fixed AV environments.
The products in the QuickQ+ series have been designed with real-world use in mind, which is why they feature an internal Wi-Fi antenna, a locking power-supply connector and dual network ports, providing greater reliability in both live and installed environments.
Those looking to upgrade to the QuickQ+ range will be able to do so seamlessly. Existing QuickQ show files remain compatible, allowing users to access increased capabilities without the need for retraining or reprogramming their projects.
With QuickQ+, ChamSys retains the ease of use of the original range while expanding its control capabilities and features through the technological advances developed since 2018.
