Chemtrol and CHAUVET Pro transform the stage lighting of Teatro Iquique

The Municipal Theater of Iquique, an architectural gem built in 188U, located in front of Plaza Arturo Prat, in the Chilean city of Iquique, has undergone a remarkable technological renovation thanks to the collaboration of Chemtrol Chile and Chauvet.

This milestone not only represents a significant advance in stage lighting, but also highlights the commitment to the preservation and modernization of heritage buildings in Chile.

Gabriel Quintana Zunino, Commercial Manager of Chemtrol Chile, led this ambitious project that originated from the need to update the theater's stage equipment. According to Quintana, "Chemtrol Chile was born from the international company Chemtrol Theatre Division in 2012". The company has gained recognition for its ability to integrate cutting-edge technology into historical spaces without compromising their structural integrity.

The choice of products designed and manufactured by Chauvet was no accident. Quintana highlights that the North American brand was chosen "due to its great progress in the entertainment lighting industry, especially the Ovation line, known for its high power and excellent color rendering results”.

The installation, carried out in the first quarter of 2024, included 14 Ovation Rêve E-3 ellipsoidals, 1G Ovation F-U15FC Fresnels, 20 Ovation P-5GFC pairs, and 12 Ovation CYC1FC cycloramas, all strategically located to maximize their efficiency and visual effects.

A significant challenge was making the technical assembly compatible with the theater's heritage building status, which is entirely made of wood. Despite these difficulties, the Chemtrol team achieved a perfect integration.

The high standard of equipment supplied is considered comprehensively by Chemtrol, covering top-level stage machinery, fire-resistant stage textiles, lighting, audio, intercommunication, video, and a complete connectivity network for the systems, Quintana explained.

In addition to the lighting, a self-amplified sound system by DAS AUDIO from the EVENT series was installed, designed and programmed by the team of engineers from Chemtrol and DAS AUDIO. This system, composed of two linear arrays, plus 4 subwoofers and 4 front-fills, homogeneously covers every sector of the theater. "The system was calibrated by Patricio ffivila, sound engineer from the national company Olavarria Sonido, who has enough experience to give the final magical touch", commented Quintana.

The success of this project is a testament to the potential that collaboration between major brands and local experts has to transform historical spaces into modern centers of culture and art.

Chemtrol is already present in the most important theaters in Chile, working at the highest technical level by considering the best brands available in the global market, Quintana stated.

For her part, Paula Ortiz, responsible for business development for Latin America at CHAUVET Professional, recognized the work done by Chemtrol; "congratulations to Chemtrol Chile for the success in this important heritage project in the city of Iquique and for the support and trust in CHAUVET Professional for its execution".

This project not only represents a technological advancement, but also a commitment to the preservation of cultural heritage, showing how innovation can enhance and revitalize entire regions.

The modernization of Teatro Iquique is a clear example of how good work and the support of leading brands can transform and enrich communities.

The combination of advanced technology led by CHAUVET Professional and the respect for architectural heritage characteristic of Chemtrol sets a new standard for future rehabilitation projects in the country, ensuring that tradition and modernity can coexist harmoniously.
