Showlight highlights the contributions of two distinguished speakers from its Class of 2025, Bryan Raven and David Gray, whose presentations offer innovative perspectives on environmental sustainability and creative lighting within the entertainment industry.
Bryan Raven tackles sustainability with optimism
Bryan Raven, a key figure in the events industry, has moved from leadership roles at White Light and d&b to establishing himself as an influential independent consultant. His work focuses on advancing the sustainability agenda through collaborations with leading organizations such as PLASA, ABTT and Theatre Green Book.
In his talk It’s Not the End of the World, Raven offers a refreshing and positive outlook on tackling climate change within the live events sector, drawing on practical experience to demonstrate realistic and achievable solutions.
David Gray: a master of international themed lighting
With more than 34 years of experience as a Project Director across five continents, David Gray is renowned for his ability to bring originality and excellence to large-scale themed entertainment projects. His career includes engineering milestones such as systems integration at the Burj Khalifa (installation of 1,000 exterior strobe lights) and work on international theme parks such as Disneyland Paris and Motiongate Dubai.
Gray’s presentation explored the creation of custom lighting for fictional worlds without “electricity” (intellectual properties such as The Smurfs and Shrek), balancing fantasy with prestigious cultural projects such as Venice’s Teatro La Fenice and London’s Royal Opera House.
We are proud to feature professionals of this calibre, whose work continues to define and raise industry standards, said a Showlight spokesperson.
