IBC prepares for its next phase of growth with the appointment of Tim Banham

IBC has announced the appointment of Tim Banham as its first Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), a newly created role that reflects the organisation’s continued focus on delivering long-term value and strengthening relationships with the global media, entertainment and technology community.

Banham brings to IBC extensive experience in international B2B events across media, technology, telecommunications and other sectors, along with a strong track record in developing and scaling successful products capable of generating significant value for customers and partners.

Tim’s customer-centric approach is a strong fit for IBC and the industry we serve. He brings fresh thinking and strong commercial leadership at an important time, as IBC continues to evolve and grow, strengthening the way we connect the global industry and adapt to customers’ needs in a fast-moving and constantly changing media technology marketplace, said Michael Crimp, CEO of IBC.

In his new role as CCO, Banham will lead IBC’s commercial strategy as the organisation moves towards IBC2026, creating the moments that drive real industry progress when it brings together the global media and entertainment technology community to connect, collaborate, showcase innovation and unlock business opportunities in September.

He will also play a key role in the next phase of growth across IBC’s exhibition, conference, digital platforms and year-round initiatives.

Banham joins from TM Forum, where he served as EVP and CCO, contributing to the growth of the global alliance of more than 800 organisations across the connectivity ecosystem. During his time there, he played a key role in expanding the organisation’s service portfolio, including Open APIs, Open Digital Architecture, industry Catalyst projects and collaborative events. Prior to that, he held senior leadership roles at Informa, where he successfully led the transition from print publications to diversified digital products across sectors including telecommunications, banking, IT and media.

IBC is at an important point in its evolution, where in-person events are playing an increasingly vital role in peer-to-peer knowledge exchange. There is a clear opportunity to further strengthen its position at the heart of the global media and entertainment community. I look forward to working with the IBC team to build on strong foundations, deepen client relationships, support industry collaboration and drive sustainable growth, said Banham.

Banham will officially take up the role on 1 June 2026 and will join IBC’s senior leadership team.
