The acclaimed Norwegian DJ and producer, Kygo, has captivated audiences on his recent world tour World Tour Part One largely thanks to the sound quality provided by the DiGiCo Quantum5 consoles, supplied by Solotech.
This tour, which included performances at iconic venues such as the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, once again demonstrated why Kygo is one of the most popular artists in electronic music.

The feeling of using this console is simply incredible. All the faders and encoders are built with such precision that you can feel it to the touch. It’s clear that DiGiCo has spared no effort in this aspect of the design, said John.

Meanwhile, Ross James, monitor engineer, highlighted the importance of the Quantum5’s Nodal Processing for creating customized mixes for each musician. "With so many guest singers, Nodal Processing allows me to adapt compression and EQ for each vocalist without duplicating channels", explained James. "It’s incredibly useful for me in the monitor world. I also love the Spice Rack and Mustard Processing, which I use throughout the system".
The importance of external processing
Both John and James have incorporated the new Fourier Audio transform.engine into their setups, allowing them to add an extra layer of depth and richness to their mixes. By using plugins like Waves F6, SSL G Buss Compressor, and Valhalla Vintage Verb, the engineers have achieved a sound that is both powerful and musical.
Before using the transform.engine, I kept things simple and relied solely on the console’s processing capabilities, detailed John.
A complete and scalable system
Kygo’s tour has utilized a highly sophisticated audio system, including two SD-Racks and three SD-MiNi Racks from DiGiCo, all connected through an Optocore loop. This system has provided exceptional redundancy and flexibility, allowing the team to adapt to the diverse demands of each venue.
