On April 11, Piazza Matteotti in Genoa hosted a set by Charlotte de Witte, a leading figure in global techno, in a large-scale event held in the historic city centre, featuring the Outline GTO C-12 system from Show Technologies™ as the foundation of the sound deployment.
The event, promoted by the City of Genoa and produced by RST Events and OPS Eventi, brought together 8,000 people who remained in the square throughout the set, with total attendance over the course of the evening exceeding 20,000.
Born in Ghent in 1992, Charlotte de Witte entered the electronic music scene in 2010 under the alias Raving George, quickly establishing herself as one of the most recognizable names in techno worldwide. She has become a regular at major events in the genre —Awakenings, Sònar, Kappa FuturFestival, Coachella, Tomorrowland— where she has delivered standout performances, including closing the main stage at Tomorrowland in both Belgium and Brazil, becoming the first woman to achieve this at both editions. Five consecutive titles as the world’s best techno DJ, from 2020 to 2025, complete a trajectory unmatched in the contemporary scene.

A techno concert in the historic centre of a city like Genoa is not a common undertaking. The initiative proved not only bold, but also generated an impact far beyond the local context: videos recorded by attendees quickly spread across social media, while Charlotte de Witte further amplified the event’s visibility through her own channels. Within hours, the story had reached audiences worldwide —from South Korea to Chile, across the United States and Europe— and even featured on Italian national television news. A format that, due to its originality, is already emerging as a source of inspiration.
Audio was handled by rental company Show Technologies™, whose Outline GTO C-12 system ensured consistent and uniform sound coverage across the entire square. Outline Mantas systems were used as monitors for Charlotte de Witte at the booth.

On the technical side, Giancarlo “Gerry” Paladini worked on behalf of Show Technologies™, handling system modelling and optimisation using Outline OpenArray 2 software. For the 12 Outline DBS 18-2 subwoofers, arranged in two groups of six, Paladini implemented a 100° arc-delay configuration to effectively distribute low-frequency energy across the lateral areas of the square, combined with a cardioid setup. This solution reduces low-frequency build-up on stage while focusing acoustic energy toward the audience, delivering a cleaner and more controlled result across the listening area.
The production was managed, as always, with impeccable precision by Alessandro Orlando and Nicolò Sasso, partners in both companies: RST Events and OPS Eventi —national leaders in the production of music, cultural and sports events, with strong roots in the Ligurian region. Both companies bring extensive expertise in the technical and organisational management of high-profile events, overseeing all aspects from logistics and safety to communications and technical staging.
