Working with Emaar Properties and systems integrator Blue Rhine Industries, INFiLED deployed around 1,100 m² of MVmk2 LED in roughly 50 positions inside and around the world’s largest shopping destination, where skylights and glass façades push indoor light levels close to daylight.
Emaar Properties has built a new digital out-of-home advertising network across Dubai Mall using INFiLED’s MVmk2 Series LED displays, with roughly 1,100 m² of screen distributed across approximately 50 indoor and outdoor positions. Delivered with Dubai-based integrator Blue Rhine Industries and completed in July 2026, the network runs on a single display platform.
Dubai Mall covers more than one million square metres, about 200 football pitches, with over 1,200 retail stores and hundreds of food and beverage outlets, alongside the Dubai Aquarium, an Olympic-sized ice rink and an indoor cinema complex. A network on that scale has to work in a very wide range of conditions.

Indoors, but lit like outdoors
The key decision was the choice of display series. The MVmk2 is engineered as an outdoor product, for urban media landmarks, transit hubs and premium outdoor advertising. Specifying it inside a shopping mall runs against typical logic, but the reason is the way Dubai Mall is lit.
Much of the mall’s circulation space is daylit through extensive skylights and large glass façades. Screens placed near those light sources face ambient light far closer to outdoor conditions than to the controlled interior a standard indoor display is designed for, and an indoor-grade panel would wash out. The MVmk2 runs at 4,500 nits with high contrast and colour uniformity, and its 3,840 Hz refresh rate keeps the displays clean on camera in one of the most photographed buildings in the region.
“People assume the indoor and outdoor distinction is about weather, but in a building like this it is really about colours and brightness,” says Hatem Malhas, INFiLED’s sales manager for DOOH – Middle East. “Dubai Mall has enormous glazed areas and skylights, so a screen near one of them is competing with daylight, even though it sits indoors. Specifying an outdoor series was the straightforward engineering answer to that, and it means the network performs consistently whether a display is in a daylit atrium or an external position.”

Fifty positions, fifty sets of conditions
Each position had different dimensions, installation height, access, structural integration, viewing distance and angle, and surrounding architecture. Every location was assessed individually before anything was installed, and customised structural solutions followed from those assessments rather than preceding them.
Because Dubai Mall trades continuously, installation across the 50 positions had to be planned around the site’s operational restrictions to minimise disruption, rather than around the convenience of the install schedule.
The formats vary considerably in scale. The larger installations include a 20 x 5 m screen, a 20 x 4 m screen and a pair of 4 x 6 m displays. All use the same 3.9 mm pixel pitch MVmk2 hardware in continuous 24/7 operation, with content managed through a centralised content management platform.

Built for 24/7 duty
The series carries IP65 protection front and rear and is designed for permanent installation and continuous operation, with a reinforced two-layer H-frame that holds cabinet flatness and pixel alignment over years of service, which matters on large-format screens where any deformation shows. The slim aluminium cabinet suits tight parapet mounting and flush-frame façades, and front and rear access allows a module to be replaced without tools. Energy consumption is 16 per cent lower than the previous MV generation, a meaningful figure across 1,100 m² running around the clock.
Integrator Blue Rhine Industries began as a sign-maker in 2003 and has grown into a digital signage and wayfinding partner across the UAE, Saudi Arabia and the wider Middle East, with more than 750 specialists and five manufacturing facilities. Its previous work inside Dubai Mall includes the Dubai Aquarium bulkhead LED installation.
The lesson for specifiers
For Emaar, the outcome is a scalable advertising network on a single display platform, optimising both capital expenditure and long-term operating costs. For the wider market, the project makes a useful point about specification: the environment in which a display actually has to survive matters more than the label on the product category. In a building lit like Dubai Mall, indoor and outdoor are not as far apart as they look.
