CCLi, d&b audiotechnik’s commitment to more precise audio in installations

At the latest edition of Inter BEE (Japan), d&b audiotechnik introduced CCLi, a compact cardioid line array system developed specifically for fixed installation applications, extending the CL Series into the integration market.

Based on the CCL System, introduced in January 2025, CCLi brings its core technical advances and acoustic characteristics into the permanent installation sector, while adding a range of installation-specific features.

The system stands out for its high performance, compact dimensions (209 × 593 × 355 mm) and a discreet, refined design. It is intended for system integrators, acoustic consultants and venue operators seeking a powerful, efficient and visually unobtrusive solution. CCLi provides broadband directivity control down to 60 Hz, with cardioid behaviour in the low-frequency range, enabling acoustic energy to be focused on audience areas while reducing unwanted low-frequency reflections from side and rear walls, particularly in acoustically challenging environments.

In terms of intelligibility, CCLi delivers a wide high-frequency dynamic range with low distortion, supporting clear and detailed reproduction of both speech and music. From an efficiency and scalability perspective, the system operates on a single amplifier channel, an important factor in fixed installations where simplicity and resource optimisation are essential.

Installation-oriented features include a newly integrated front grille with reduced visibility of rigging elements, flush side panels replacing the handles of the CCL System, and an optional Euroblock Phoenix connector panel with a sealed cable gland, designed to meet the practical requirements of permanent installations.

CCLi is positioned as a versatile solution for installations where precise directivity control, concentrated output, discreet aesthetics and cost efficiency are critical, with applications in theatres, multipurpose venues, houses of worship, clubs and similar environments.

The CCLi system combines an installation-specific design with d&b technology to deliver high acoustic performance across a broad range of installation projects. Its cost-conscious approach is further enhanced when combined with the Bi12 subwoofer and the 25D amplifiers, making it particularly suitable for smaller venues and spaces, explains Santiago Alcalá, Director of Loudspeaker Products at d&b audiotechnik.

CCLi is available with horizontal dispersion options of 80 and 120 degrees (CCLi8 and CCLi12). The system is supported by a dedicated range of subwoofers for installation, including the flown CCLi-SUB, based on the CCL-SUB. In addition, d&b introduced the Bi12, a passive cardioid stacked subwoofer for installation applications, alongside the B12 version for touring use within the CCL System.

With the addition of the B12 and Bi12 subwoofers, the CL Series expands its offering with two acoustically and operationally focused cardioid models that strengthen the overall loudspeaker portfolio. Shipments of the CCLi and the B12/Bi12 subwoofers are scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2026, adds Marcus Bäumler, Director of Loudspeaker Product Management at d&b audiotechnik.
