d&b audiotechnik introduces the U Series, a paradigm shift in versatile compact point-source loudspeakers that redefines versatility and performance for this product category.
With three models available in both networked and passive versions, this new acoustic design concept delivers excellent efficiency and directivity control, giving users consistent results across applications and the confidence to choose exactly the right technical solution for each specific project.
The U Series design, modern and application-neutral, integrates seamlessly into both touring and installation setups. Thanks to its discreet industrial appearance, with no visible rigging points or handles, it blends into installation projects while respecting architectural or aesthetic constraints. Its solid, robust construction, with high-quality materials and finishes, is ideal for touring applications and offers accessories with d&b’s traditional touring-grade quality.
Next-generation uncompromising acoustic design
At the core of the U Series is an electroacoustic design concept that makes no compromises. The bipolar low-frequency horn configuration extends vertical directivity control down to ±500 Hz. All versions deliver identical low-frequency performance down to 55 Hz and incorporate the port design technology developed for the SL Series, ensuring range consistency and full-range performance compatibility for nearfield applications without subwoofers.
Each model features a new patented waveguide horn assembly that can be rotated 90° without tools, providing superior broadband high-frequency dispersion control and outstanding off-axis performance.
Networked and passive models
The first U Series models include three passive loudspeakers (U3, U5, U7) and three hybrid-topology networked loudspeakers (U3N, U5N, U7N).
The passive and networked versions are physically and acoustically identical, allowing users to choose the ideal system architecture solution that meets the specific requirements of their project or event.
With the U Series, we open a new chapter in the compact versatile point-source loudspeaker category. This new generation of loudspeakers stays true to our DNA and our traditional values while also marking a major evolutionary step. Users can now benefit from an impressive range of classic and new d&b features and technologies that deliver high performance and excellent innovation for their projects, regardless of the field or application, explains Santiago Alcalá Baillie, Director of Loudspeaker Product Management at d&b audiotechnik.
Integration freedom and system architecture
The passive models integrate seamlessly into the amplifier ecosystem and the industry-standard d&b Workflow. When used with the 5D amplifier or the new 5DM (the Milan-AVB version of the 5D), users can choose between Dante and Milan audio networks, or even combine them. Passive models are ideal for applications where cost efficiency and amplifier channel count are key—especially where amplifier racks are the preferred infrastructure, or where loudspeakers are deployed in touring or outdoor environments.
The networked versions offer an unprecedented level of freedom in system architecture, providing users with a wide range of configuration possibilities. The U Series networked versions feature a hybrid-topology networked DSP power module, operate on AC power and/or PoE++ across dual Milan and R1 networks, and provide power, signal, and network redundancy, single-cable operation, daisy-chaining/grouping, and even standalone operation controlled via an NFC app.
The U Series has been designed for power efficiency. Whether powered by a d&b amplifier, AC, or PoE++, users can expect professional and consistent audio SPL. The networked versions deliver full SPL with less than 90 watts of PoE++, making them ideal for projects requiring advanced configuration and tuning, or multiple options in system architecture.
Configuring a powerful single-cable solution (R1 + Milan + PoE++) requires the new d&b DN2 switch for Milan-AVB, providing 8 ports x 90 W PoE++. Additional options include third-party Milan PoE++ devices or PoE++ injectors for DN1.
The networked U Series models are the perfect choice for distributed audio systems or immersive audio applications such as d&b Soundscape, as well as for all projects where decentralizing power and DSP is essential for infrastructure, budget, or logistics reasons.
Stacked subwoofer add-on
As a complement to the U Series, d&b introduces the new stacked B10 subwoofer, a compact, omnidirectional, dual 10” bass reflex design, available in both passive and networked versions to match all U Series models. The passive version will be offered in two options: Touring (B10) and fixed installation (Bi10). The networked versions include the B10N for touring applications and the Bi10N for dedicated installation use. Both are fully compatible with the U Series networked models and share the same system architecture possibilities. The passive U Series models, along with the B10 and Bi10, will be available in Q1 2026. The networked versions will follow in Q2 and will include the B10N and Bi10N.
