Sennheiser unveiled at ISE 2026 key new additions to its Spectera wideband bidirectional wireless ecosystem, reinforcing its commitment to professional workflows in live sound, theatre and broadcast.
The event marked the start of the presale of the new Spectera SKM handheld transmitter, available in both UHF and 1.4 GHz versions, along with the new Command Adapter, which adds a programmable function for immediate operational control in production environments.
The commercial launch of both products is scheduled for September 2026, further consolidating Spectera’s evolution as a wireless platform designed to meet today’s demands for connectivity, flexibility and remote control in large-scale productions.
Spectera Lab: continuous innovation and ecosystem co-creation
Spectera continues to expand through regular hardware, software and feature updates. In this context, Spectera Lab positions itself as the go-to space to discover the latest system developments and take an active role in its evolution through the Ideas Space and a dedicated Discord channel.
During ISE 2026, visitors were able to contribute their feature proposals directly via a large touchscreen installed at the booth, connecting technological innovation with the real needs of operators and productions.
The highly anticipated Spectera SKM handheld transmitter
The new Spectera SKM features Sennheiser’s standard capsule interface, compatible with Sennheiser and Neumann microphone heads. Its design includes an anodized aluminium body and a high-visibility OLED display, built for intensive use on tour and in demanding stage environments.
Thanks to the bidirectional data flow enabled by Sennheiser’s WMAS implementation, sound engineers gain full remote control over critical microphone parameters such as gain or low-cut filters, optimizing real-time management of the wireless system.
Command Adapter: instant programmable control
The new Command Adapter expands the transmitter’s capabilities by allowing audio routing changes at the press of a button. This feature is useful for direct communication applications between the artist and the technical team, as well as for switching, mute or push-to-talk configurations.

Spectera API: advanced integration in multi-vendor workflows
Another major highlight presented at ISE was the Spectera API, scheduled to become available in the second quarter of 2026. Built on Sennheiser’s tradition of open protocols, this interface enables a new level of customization and bidirectional integration in professional audio workflows involving multiple manufacturers.
The API is designed for both users with in-house developments and third-party solutions, with support from industry partners such as Bitfocus Companion, SoundBase, Sonoros, among others, enabling advanced control of the Spectera ecosystem in complex live production and theatre environments.
Upcoming developments: Cue Mode, broadcast ST 2110-30 and ZMAN base station
Sennheiser also previewed future expansions of the Spectera ecosystem, including:
- Engineer Mode (Cue Mode) for live sound applications, scheduled for December 2026
- Command Adapter for the SEK, scheduled for May 2026
- ZMAN Base Station with ST 2110-30 integration for broadcast workflows, scheduled for August 2026
Broadcast integration will be further strengthened through a Merging ZMAN module, enabling the base station to operate in compliance with the ST 2110-30 standard, opening up new possibilities for next-generation IP productions.
