Celestion expands its catalogue with two new additions: the 8-inch CNX0820 coaxial driver and the 21-inch TSQ2160 low-frequency driver, designed to deliver exceptional performance, high reliability and consistent response even in the most demanding applications.
The CNX0820 is an innovative 8-inch neodymium coaxial driver, designed for professional applications where space is limited but audio quality is critical. Its design is based on a common motor that powers both the low-frequency (LF) and high-frequency (HF) transducers, bringing the acoustic centres closer together and improving phase coherence and time alignment, all in a more compact format than conventional dual-motor coaxial designs.
The driver features a highly robust cast aluminium chassis and an integrated constant directivity horn that provides a controlled 50° dispersion pattern, simplifying enclosure design and coverage control. The CNX0820 delivers 500 W continuous power handling in LF with 95 dB sensitivity, thanks to its 2-inch (50 mm) voice coil, while the HF section uses a 1.75-inch (44 mm) voice coil, with 100 W continuous power handling and 107 dB sensitivity. The assembly incorporates twin demodulation rings to reduce distortion and a field-replaceable polyimide diaphragm, ensuring durability and ease of maintenance.
Weighing just 2.5 kg, the CNX0820 is an ideal solution for stage monitor cabinets, compact two-way systems and high-ceiling installation loudspeakers. This model represents the natural evolution of the successful FTX range and is part of the more than 50 coaxial platforms developed by Celestion for OEM manufacturers, offering multiple configurations in terms of size, materials and magnet systems.
Meanwhile, the TSQ2160 expands the revolutionary Ten Squared (Ten²) Series, following the launch of the flagship TSQ2460. This 21-inch neodymium driver has been developed at Celestion’s R&D centre in Suffolk (United Kingdom), with a focus not only on maximum sound pressure levels, but on maintaining that performance consistently throughout the product’s entire lifespan.
The TSQ2160 delivers an impressive 5,000 W continuous power rating and 97.5 dB sensitivity, thanks to its 6-inch (152 mm) round copper voice coil and advanced cooling system. It incorporates Precision Tuned Venting (PTV) technology, a three-channel ventilation system that ensures constant airflow across the entire frequency band. This solution, combined with a proprietary voice coil structure designed and wound in-house by Celestion, allows the driver to operate at temperatures up to 80°C lower than comparable models, reducing power compression and thermal stress.
The TSQ2160 design also prioritises mechanical control and low distortion. Its reconfigured magnet assembly enables greater cone excursion (Xmech), ensuring that electrical and mechanical limits are reached at virtually the same point, even at extreme output levels. Durability is further reinforced by a polysiloxane-laminated suspension, precision-guided lead-out wires to prevent fatigue, and a double-sided water-resistant cone coating, designed to withstand demanding environmental conditions.
These two new products perfectly reflect Celestion’s philosophy: innovation, precision engineering and consistent performance. From compact, coherent solutions like the CNX0820 to ultra-high-power drivers like the TSQ2160, we continue to push the boundaries of professional audio, says Ken Weller, Celestion Head of Marketing.
