The event industry is in a state of constant change. Sustainable concepts, immersive experiences, and intelligent and flexible systems are increasingly gaining importance and shaping the development of modern event and entertainment formats.
On the 30th anniversary of Prolight + Sound, more than 500 exhibitors and brands from 32 countries present their latest solutions and provide a new impetus for the future of the sector. Visitors enjoy a four-day trade fair experience with extensive educational and networking opportunities, product innovations, and new and expanded event highlights.
With the themes ProGreen, FutureScapes and MultiTech, Prolight + Sound 2025 focuses on sustainable event solutions, immersive technologies powered by artificial intelligence, and flexible and connected concepts for event formats. The choice of topics was made in close consultation with partners and industry experts to specifically address current developments and requirements in the sector. The main points are highlighted in numerous events, including practical workshops, keynote speeches, seminars, and product presentations.
Almost half of the exhibitors and brands represented come from abroad – including the United States, Italy, Great Britain, France, China, and the Benelux countries. Prolight + Sound thus offers visitors a comprehensive overview of global market trends and technological advances.
With this edition, Prolight + Sound not only celebrates its own anniversary – it pays tribute to the numerous colleagues whose dedication and creativity have helped position it as one of the leading international trade fairs for event and show technology. With its impressive product exhibits and educational formats, Prolight + Sound offers a platform for future-ready solutions – and highlights the opportunities that new technologies bring to the events sector, explains Wolfgang Marzin, President and CEO of Messe Frankfurt.
Between green technology and the digital stage
The Prolight + Sound event program continues with the main themes of the fair.
New approaches and technical solutions for a sustainable event industry (ProGreen) play a central role – including the EVVC (European Association of Event Centres) Green Sessions and conferences on renewable energy concepts and more environmentally friendly live show productions.
The potential of artificial intelligence and immersive technologies (FutureScapes) is examined exhaustively – from intelligent camera systems, lighting design, and music production to the use of artificial intelligence to respond to audience emotions. At the VPLT (Association for Media and Event Technology) Future Talk, industry professionals and newcomers will debate artificial intelligence and digitization in training.
The potential applications of multifunctional and connected event technology (MultiTech) will also be addressed in various formats, including specialized conferences and presentations on dynamic show control, automated tracking systems, and intelligent distribution of signals and power.
Theatrical and stage technology in a new light
Prolight + Sound is the benchmark event in technology for theatre and stages. In addition to presentations by the leading players, Hall 12.0 hosts an area dedicated to the theatre sector – which has been redesigned and expanded for this anniversary edition. With formats such as Theatre Stage, VPLT Theatre College, and Theatre Café, it combines exhibitions, education, knowledge transfer, and networking.
Knowledge transfer and practical tips
The Knowledge Hub offers an experience-oriented program for continuous training and knowledge transfer. It focuses on keynote speeches, panels, and seminars on topics such as artificial intelligence, immersive experiences, and sustainable event concepts. The central formats are the Main Stage, the EVVC Green Sessions, and the three Prolight + Sound Colleges, which offer free daily specialized seminars.
The Knowledge Forum is also introduced, featuring practical contributions from young creatives. The I-ESC conference is dedicated to current issues in event security.
Action, camera! The Image Creation Hub
The Image Creation Hub is the central meeting point for professionals in camera and video technology – with practical workshops, conferences, and live demonstrations carried out in collaboration with the BVFK. The area includes the Camera College, a speakers’ zone styled like a TV studio, and daily panels with industry experts on current topics such as artificial intelligence, sustainability, and copyright. The offering is complemented by numerous exhibitors, product innovations, and networking opportunities for creatives in the video industry.
Connect, learn, inspire – MusicOneX, MIXCON and more
In addition, a series of formats offers extensive opportunities for exchange, knowledge acquisition, and inspiration – including the MusicOneX area and the ‘MIXCON x BVD present DJ- & Producer Conference’, which hosts approximately 100 exhibitors across two areas. Other highlights are the MixLab and the networking areas in the Future Hub and in the new Theatre Stage.
Professional exchange and community experience
The event sector thrives on personal encounters and networking. With a wide range of networking opportunities, Prolight + Sound 2025 fosters the creation of new contacts and the development of cross-sector collaborations.
PLS Community Nights is a standout space for exhibitors and visitors, consisting of three networking evenings in exclusive locations in Frankfurt – including the 30 Years of PLS birthday party, which takes place at Depot 1899.
