A living structure of light: the AMF 2025 stage features INFiLED LED displays

At this year’s Amsterdam Music Festival (AMF), the Johan Cruijff ArenA hosted one of the event’s most ambitious LED installations, bringing together nearly 40,000 attendees for a single night of music and energy.

Nearly 2,000 m² of INFiLED LED displays were installed and commissioned in under 24 working hours, a key milestone for the PIXELSCREEN.eu team and a clear demonstration of the precision required for the project.

This rapid large-scale build laid the foundation for a stage design that combined transparent and solid LED elements, projecting AMF’s signature visual identity throughout the stadium.

Background – Europe’s dance music benchmark

AMF sits at the heart of the Amsterdam Dance Event, renowned for its scale, precision, and production quality. Its visual identity has always revolved around the letter “X,” which AMF itself describes as “inspired by the city of Amsterdam, a festival symbol from the very first day”.

To bring that emblem to life in 2025, Insomniac once again partnered with PIXELSCREEN.eu, a trusted collaborator for large-scale builds under extremely tight deadlines. For this edition, PIXELSCREEN.eu worked alongside INFiLED, whose LED systems provided the lightweight construction, strength, and reliability required for the design.

Behind the scenes, lighting, video, and content teams pre-visualized every cue to maintain perfect synchronization of timing and movement once the show began.

The challenge – Turning a stadium into a stage

The AMF 2025 stage needed to be monumental, yet open enough to allow beams, lasers, and pyrotechnics to pass through. It had to express the festival’s iconic “X” shape, integrate with lighting structures, and remain stable throughout rehearsals and performance.

With only one day to complete the installation, PIXELSCREEN.eu handled rigging, cabling, and calibration simultaneously. Every module had to lock precisely into place and synchronize the moment power was applied. Achieving this level of accuracy at such scale required meticulous planning and strong teamwork.

Frank, CEO of PIXELSCREEN.eu, noted that completing the build in under 24 hours demonstrates what is possible when cutting-edge technology is combined with a dedicated and experienced team.

The solution – Transparency and solidity in motion

PIXELSCREEN.eu brought the design to life using two INFiLED LED display series, each playing a specific role within the stage composition.

infiled amf 3 HIAM Series (transparent panels):

  • Visual openness: With 70% transparency, the panels formed vertical layers that allowed light and motion to flow naturally through the stage.
  • Brightness and clarity: A 4,000-nit output ensured vivid visuals without blocking lighting effects behind.
  • Fast installation: Magnetic alignment and a quick-lock system enabled a rapid, precise overnight build.
  • Outdoor reliability: IP65 protection ensured stable operation under festival conditions.

AR Series (solid panels)

  • Structural foundation: Positioned behind the AM layers to define the stage shape and deliver high-impact content.
  • Rigidity and precision: Magnesium-alloy frames, magnet-assisted alignment, and fast locks ensured a stable and repeatable setup.
  • Safe rigging design: The stacking system supports up to 20 cabinets and, with a safety factor of 10, allows single-row hoisting to reach the same height.

Together, the AM and AR series created a stage that felt both open and defined. The transparent layers allowed light to travel through the space, while the solid backdrop provided form and visual focus, creating layered depth with an architectural and dynamic character. The LED modules were connected through a centralized control network, maintaining color and brightness consistency across the system, from installation through showtime.

Outcome – Precision and collaboration on stage

When the lights went down, the structure came alive. Transparent layers rippled with color, while solid surfaces delivered sharp, high-impact visuals that defined each musical transition. From the upper tiers, the stage appeared almost weightless; from the floor, it projected clarity and power.

Throughout the night, the system performed flawlessly: no synchronization delays and no color drift, demonstrating the reliability of both the equipment and the execution. The project also reflected a growing trend in live entertainment—modular LED platforms that reduce build times while expanding creative possibilities.

For PIXELSCREEN.eu and INFiLED, AMF 2025 was not just a fast build, but a collaboration that turned speed, precision, and design into a fully integrated visual experience. In a single day, an empty stadium was transformed into a true living structure of light and rhythm.
