Panasonic Connect presents its video production solutions at NAB 2024

The technology company launches a new KAIROS server, a compact live switcher, and software enhancements to increase the efficiency and quality of video production.

Panasonic Connect Europe announced a series of new products and enhancements designed to boost the efficiency and quality of video production.

The latest KAIROS server, compact live switcher, and software function enhancements will be showcased at Panasonic's stand C3310 at the 2024 National Associations of Broadcasters (NAB) Show, taking place in Las Vegas, USA, from April 14 to 17.

New KAIROS server with enhanced features

Panasonic introduces the new KAIROS Core 200 server AT-KC200L1 and the latest software update (version 1.7), which includes intelligent routing functionality. The AT-KC200L1, compatible with standard SDI inputs and outputs, along with the new intelligent routing feature, delivers video quality and productivity when using KAIROS for live broadcasts, events, sports, and in corporate and educational markets.

This server is equipped with similar features to the second-generation KAIROS Core 200 (AT-KC200), launched last June 2023. It supports 24 inputs / 12 outputs (FHD) as standard but offers more flexible video production to customers using SDI-based video production systems. Additionally, up to 32 inputs / 16 outputs (FHD) can be supported by additionally installing the SDI I/O board AT-KC20M1, released in February 2024.

Software update version 1.7 is compatible with all KAIROS servers (AT-KC2000/2000S1, AT-KC200/200L1, and AT-KC1000/KC100), and incorporates the new Smart Routing feature. This automatically imports videos from the switch to KAIROS to enable management of a larger number of input sources. As a result, bandwidth limitations are eliminated when using a large number of inputs in KAIROS for video production.

Enhancements in the live switcher

Panasonic has announced the release of exciting enhancements to its compact live switcher AV-HSW10 to drive efficiency and quality in video production for webinars and other live events. The new AV-HSW10 combines Panasonic's professional mixer stability with the scalability of a software-based solution. Updates include firmware version 2.00 for simplified setup in addition to the free AV-SF10 software control panel, which enhances individual usage and remote operation efficiency.

This will further enhance uninterrupted video production environments connected to Panasonic PTZ cameras, including compatibility with various IP transmission standards designed for current video production needs. Additionally, integration with RP Link and tally control via IP connections will enable high-quality online communication.

Following the high-end AV-UHS500, the new AV-HSW10 will also generate a mobile color bar to streamline setup time in live events, especially those with LED screens and large displays. Available color bars in moving and fixed image mode will allow checking for pixel absence on LEDs and screens, as well as video output for IP connections, bypassing the need for an external test signal generator.

The new software-based control panel will allow convenient control of switcher functions from a PC or tablet (Windows 10/11 or MacOS Monterey/Ventura/Sonoma). Detailed settings and confirmation of input/output sources, usually done with buttons and knobs, can be easily executed with a PC keyboard or touchscreen. Exclusive software control panel features like shot memory sequencing or direct writing/replacing of still image memory will enable more effective pre-shoot preparation and review during shooting. The integrated GUI will incorporate control screen, live video monitoring, and multiviewer, similar to Panasonic's popular large switches, for easy switching between multiple video inputs/outputs. The intuitive GUI can be easily operated by a single person, including users with minimal experience.

New PTZ camera and Teams certification

Additionally, at the NAB Show, it will be the first time the company showcases its new PTZ camera AW-UE30. The UE30 is compact, quiet, affordable, and ideal for educational and corporate meetings, as it features built-in auto-tracking. The AW-UE4 PTZ camera will be available for demos following the recent certification for use with Microsoft Teams.
