Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week, one of the world's leading bridal fashion events, relied on the Hog lighting control system to support an intensive programme of runway shows and special events during its latest edition.
Held annually in Barcelona, the event brings together leading bridal designers and brands from around the world. Each edition features a new scenic design, creating fresh technical requirements for the production team. This year, the programme also included Bridal Night, a special runway show featuring an internationally recognised designer, all within the same runway environment.
Lighting Designer Juanjo Saunier and Head of Lighting and Technical Manager Juli González selected ETC's Tour Hog to meet the demands of a production requiring exceptional flexibility across multiple runway show formats.
Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week is one of the world's most influential events in the bridal fashion industry. Each edition features a different scenic design to distinguish it from the previous one. This year also included the Bridal Night event, where an international designer presents a collection. Everything takes place on the same runway. Ultimately, the lighting system needs to be flexible enough to meet the requirements of every show, both during the day and at night, says Saunier.
The venue presented its own challenges, particularly when it came to accommodating different show formats within a single performance space. With one lighting system supporting all productions, flexibility became an essential requirement.
Having worked with Hog for many years, both Saunier and González were fully confident that the platform would provide the flexibility and control required for the event. "Both Juli González and I have been Hog users for many years", says Saunier. "It's a platform we're very comfortable working with, and it was a pleasure to use the latest generation of Hog consoles on this production".
To facilitate programming and on-site adjustments throughout the event, the team deployed a networked Hog system with control positions distributed across different areas of the venue.
From the outset, Juli knew we would need two networked consoles located in different areas of the venue to make adjustments. It was a key decision that gave us incredible flexibility throughout the production, explains Saunier.
The networked configuration enabled the team to manage such a demanding production efficiently. "For me, the key word is comfort", concludes Saunier. "Along with the robustness and stability of the system. Even with around 180 lighting fixtures across approximately 24 DMX universes, the platform performed exactly as we needed it to".
With the support of ETC dealer VCI, the production team delivered a flexible and reliable lighting system capable of meeting the evolving requirements of one of the bridal fashion industry's most prominent events.
