Good Shepherd Church (Charlotte, North Carolina) has transformed its audio infrastructure to serve a community spanning four Sunday services and a growing global online audience.
After 16 years operating with a first-generation digital console, the congregation has migrated to DiGiCo’s Quantum ecosystem and KLANG’s immersive mixing technology, resolving capacity limitations and improving sonic fidelity across its entire production environment.
The move to Quantum processing
The choice of the DiGiCo Quantum225 for FOH has enabled the church to access processing tools that were previously out of reach. The transition has not only increased the number of inputs but also delivered a tangible improvement in sound texture. Chris Macedo, Worship Arts Pastor, highlights the operational change:
There was a noticeable increase in overall fidelity and clarity. The mix now feels more detailed and articulated, and the way frequencies sit in the room feels more balanced and controlled. Workflow improvements were also significant; moving between layers and organizing inputs is much more efficient.

KLANG:vokal+: from 24 to 64 immersive channels
The core of the personal monitoring system (IEM) has been enhanced with the :vokal+ upgrade. This technological leap has increased the input count from 24 to 64 channels, while maintaining operation at both 48 kHz and 96 kHz. In addition, the system now integrates KLANG Root/Intensity parametric EQs for all inputs and the 12 immersive mixes.
For musicians, this expansion has meant moving from restrictive mono monitoring to a 3D spatial experience: “The jump from 24 to 64 channels was huge. Our guitarists were thrilled because they had been working only in mono; being able to hear their instrument as they always imagined it, with their delay and reverb effects in stereo, really made a difference”.
Network architecture and Dante connectivity
Good Shepherd’s infrastructure is built on a high-capacity Dante network, managed from the console via a DMI-DANTE64@96 card. This setup allows signals from wireless microphones and Dante Virtual Soundcard to be received and distributed to a DiGiCo DQ-Rack for the percussion section and an additional A168D rack on stage. Meanwhile, the KLANG:vokal+ unit is integrated as an external processor connected via MADI.

This architecture allows the monitoring system to remain largely static and autonomous, freeing the FOH engineer from managing auxiliary mixes:
The user experience is vastly improved and allows FOH to focus on the house mix without needing someone constantly monitoring the monitors. Week after week, sometimes we don’t even touch the mixes. It works reliably every time.
Consistency between the room and streaming
The technical upgrade has also simplified production for online platforms. Instead of using a dedicated broadcast console, the technical team has optimized the room acoustics and the processing capabilities of the Quantum225 so that the FOH mix can be sent directly to the stream with minimal level and limiting adjustments.

“Now, when someone watches us on YouTube or on our website, they hear the same mix as in the room. We simply send it through another group with basic tonal shaping. It works very well”.
With the combination of KLANG:vokal+ and Quantum225, Good Shepherd Church has established a high-resolution workflow that meets both the technical precision required on stage and the demand for sonic clarity in the sanctuary and digital environment.
