Celestion introduces the CDX14-3035, a ferrite HF driver optimized for high-performance line array systems

Celestion introduces the CDX14-3035, an HF compression driver featuring a 1.4-inch exit, ferrite magnet, and single-piece titanium diaphragm.

This new model is an upgraded version of the classic CDX14-3030, offering greater power handling capability with 120W nominal (measured to AES standard) and 240W continuous, as well as improved sensitivity of 108dB. The driver also features a lower minimum crossover point of 800Hz (12dB/oct), increasing its versatility compared to the previous model.

Likewise, the CDX14-3035 delivers the same outstanding HF performance as the CDX14-3045 with a neodymium magnet but is designed for large-format enclosures and high-performance line array systems, where size and weight are less critical than cost considerations.

Several design elements contribute to the driver’s linearity, durability, and low distortion, beginning with its new single-piece titanium diaphragm and surround. The surround’s shape has been optimized for greater linearity and incorporates a high-temperature polymer clamp ring, which minimizes distortion and enhances overall performance.

The driver utilizes a 3-inch (75mm) edgewound copper-clad aluminum voice coil, has a nominal impedance of 8 ohms, and a throat exit of 35mm/1.4 inches.

The CDX14-3035 delivers exceptional high-frequency performance and robust power handling, bringing Celestion’s signature quality to a cost-effective ferrite design. Its high 108dB sensitivity and 240W continuous rating make it an ideal choice for sound reinforcement applications demanding reliability and high output, said Ken Weller, Marketing Manager at Celestion.

Designed and developed at Celestion’s headquarters in Ipswich, England, the new CDX14-3035 high-frequency compression driver reflects the brand’s ongoing commitment to creating high-quality, engineering-led solutions for professional audio.
