Yamaha’s commitment to providing the best live audio facilities is the theme of its presence at ProLight + Sound 2019, with the latest updates to its digital mixing consoles and an updated range of loudspeakers on show.
Exhibiting alongside Nexo on stand F50, Hall 8.0, Yamaha is showing the brand new TF Series V4.0 firmware. This adds a number of enhancements, including a Selected Channel View for even more intuitive, efficient operation, scene fade time function for added for scene management flexibility (particularly in theatrical applications), additional mute groups, expanded support for DZR-D and DXS-XLF-D series speakers and an extensive selection of new QuickPro Presets™ for a variety of microphones, in-ear monitors and speakers. The TF StageMix iPad app has also been updated.
The flagship RIVAGE PM10 and PM7 digital mixing systems were on show, running the latest RIVAGE V3.0 update. This adds the new DaNSe dynamic noise suppressor plug-in, bringing improvements to speech clarity for theatrical and broadcast applications.
Other enhancements include Mix to Input routing and workflows for global paste, DCA assignment and Custom Faders. All of the improvements of RIVAGE V2.5 are featured, including Theatre Mode, offering significant advantages for all types of theatrical production and support for Audinate’s Dante Domain Manager.
CL and QL series mixers will also be on the stand with V5.1 firmware, which supports the Dante-equipped DZR-D series powered loudspeakers and the NEXO NXAMPmk2.
Another updated product at ProLight + Sound is the DXRmkII series of powered loudspeakers. The touring-grade technology of the four-model DXR range delivers great sound with class-leading SPLs in a compact, functional design.
The updated range features a new, bigger neodymium 1.75” HF driver and retuned DSP, delivering improved audio quality and power from versatile loudspeakers which are ideal for a wide range of sound reinforcement applications.
Complementing these products will be a range of Yamaha’s industry-leading installation products, including the latest V3.31 firmware for the MTX/MRX series matrix processors, XMV series power amplifiers and PGM1 paging station microphone. The update supports Dante Domain Manager and includes several other improvements.

The DXRmkII models feature an upgraded, 1.75” neodymium VC compression driver that delivers 1-2 dB higher SPL than the existing series, with improved HF audio quality. The DXR15mkII can reach an impressive 134 dB maximum SPL, with an impressive LF response down to 49Hz, while the DXR12mkII can also produce 134 dB SPL with LF down to 52Hz, with exceptional clarity and minimal distortion. The maximum SPL for the DXR10mkII is 132dB SPL, with 130dB SPL for the DXR8mkII.
Yamaha's state-of-the-art digital technology ensures the DXRmkII range delivers superb clarity and musicality. Yamaha's proprietary FIR-X tuning™ utilises linear phase FIR* filters for the crossover - an innovative tuning which achieves a very accurate, smooth response - providing enhanced clarity and imaging.
All models feature D-CONTOUR dynamic multi-band processing for clear, powerful and consistent sound, with more detailed tuning settings - FOH/MAIN or MONITOR - optimally set to match the particular application. Yamaha's DSP also offers tour-proven protection functions to ensure all vital components perform at their maximum potential, even after extended durations of usage.
Durable, non-resonant ABS enclosures, a portable, lightweight construction and sturdy steel grilles allow for seamless adaptability in a range of environments and applications, from Front of House sound and wedge monitoring to simple amplification and installed environments. Versatile mounting options include rigging points for standard eye-bolts, optional U brackets and a dual-angle pole mount socket. All models also feature a three-channel onboard mixer, flexible IN/OUT connectivity and linking options to create a full sound reinforcement system.
As with the original DXR series, Yamaha collaborated with Nexo on the updated range, adding Nexo’s insight and expertise as an industry leader in touring-grade sound reinforcement to the precise tuning of the DXRmkII series.

Yamaha’s presence at ProLight + Sound 2019 highlighted the latest update to Yamaha’s TF Series digital mixers, which takes the TouchFlow Operation™ of the TF5, TF3, TF1 and TF-RACK to new heights.
The V4.0 update adds a Selected Channel View, which provides access to the main parameters for the currently selected input channel in a single display. Combined with the mixer’s Touch & Turn knobs, the new view provides even more intuitive, efficient operation.
It also adds a scene fade time function that offers added flexibility for scene management, particularly in theatrical applications, plus four extra mute groups which can have any input assigned to them. User Defined keys can also be used to control mute groups. Support for DZR-D and DXS-XLF-D series speakers has been expanded, with speaker amp mute control directly from the mixer display.Yamaha’s research and development team has co-operated closely with microphone and in-ear monitor (IEM) manufacturers, as well as a large number of sound engineers, to create an extensive selection of new QuickPro Presets™ for a variety of microphones, in-ear monitors and speakers.
The new presets include in-ear monitors from Westone Laboratories, a producer of universal and custom fit models which are highly regarded by users. These powerful presets make it easier for novice engineers to achieve great sound, while reducing the amount of time experienced engineers need to spend on setup.
The TF StageMix iPad app is also upgraded, allowing control of playback from and recording to a USB storage device connected to the mixer. The TF StageMix update also adds User Defined Button functionality to the iPad, for enhanced remote-control versatility.“Regular updates to the TF series give users evolved features and control, offering improved compatibility with a growing range of applications,” says Yoshi Tsugawa, Yamaha Pro Audio General Manager.
