A 54-meter, 776-gross-ton superyacht designed by Delta Design Group, accommodating up to 16 guests and 14 crew, does not seem like the type of project one would expect from an integrator based in landlocked Montana.
However, when the owner of the vessel wanted his guests to remain immersed in the cruising experience and connected both to the journey and to one another, he turned to the team that had already impressed him with its sound quality and service: Montana Pro Audio (MPA). The brief was simple in concept but demanding in execution: to deliver concert-grade audio across the decks in a marine environment.
MPA first caught the owner’s attention during a private event held in Montana, probably one of the places farthest from the ocean. An initial project for a 35-meter vessel helped consolidate a strong relationship of trust. However, the client’s subsequent acquisition of a larger superyacht presented a far more ambitious challenge, requiring a major evolution of the audio system. Thanks to the trust earned through the previous project, Aaron Fisher, MPA’s Director of Business Development, was tasked with bringing the company’s signature concert-grade sound quality to this exclusive maritime environment.

To achieve this, Fisher used L-Acoustics solutions, which offered the weather resistance, sonic precision, and refined aesthetics required for a vessel of this size.
Any deck, any DJ
MPA has already completed the first phase of the installation, focused on the exterior leisure and entertainment areas. The Sun Deck features two Soka inWall loudspeakers, six X4r, and two SB10r subwoofers. The Owner’s Deck is equipped with two X6i, two X4r, and one SB10i subwoofer. On the Main Deck, two Soka inWall, two X4r, and a ceiling-mounted SB10r provide uniform coverage.
In the boat garage, located at the lower stern, MPA developed an ingenious solution to create a beach club-style experience. Two X8i and a surface-mounted SB10i were installed on the underside of the overhead garage door. When the door opens, the system is perfectly positioned to provide sound for water activities taking place off the stern platform.
As for the audiovisual system, the goal was to equip the yacht with discreet, professional-grade products capable of delivering a nightclub-style audio experience throughout the vessel, Fisher explains.

The system is completed by a portable DJ setup consisting of two Syva main loudspeakers, two Syva Low, a KS21 subwoofer, and an X8 as a DJ monitor, which can be deployed on any of the decks. To support this, the vessel features connection panels distributed throughout the areas, with L/R/Sub outputs for DJ, a multipin input for the DJ equipment, and a port for an Allen & Heath digital stage box. "The DJ can easily connect their system to any of the panels distributed across the decks or in the boat garage", Fisher explains. "From there, the music can be sent to all audio zones throughout the yacht".
The second phase, planned for 2027, will extend the system to the yacht’s interior spaces, including the main salon, dining room, media room, owner’s suite, gym, and wheelhouse, as well as adding a deployable system on the bow.
Engineered to withstand exposure
Marine installations require a level of durability that many professional audio solutions cannot provide. Fisher notes that L-Acoustics enclosures feature weather-resistant IP ratings that offer immediate practical advantages for outdoor installations.

"L-Acoustics components are designed to withstand the most demanding environmental conditions, so they are ready to be installed on deck from the outset", Fisher says. "We were able to meet the project timeline because these enclosures are manufactured as standard to withstand humidity, salt air, and spray".
Working within the limited spaces typical of a luxury interior, Fisher also found advantages in configuring the systems to extend frequency response rather than focusing solely on achieving maximum sound pressure level (SPL).
The fact that L-Acoustics offers presets that allow us to extend frequency bandwidth in exchange for a slight reduction in SPL is an excellent feature. It acknowledges that the product’s maximum SPL is not necessary in intimate spaces like these. In areas where we do not need maximum volume, we can sacrifice a few decibels without losing impact or definition, prioritizing a frequency response optimized for the specific characteristics of each space, he notes.

Collaboration and support
The installation required close coordination with two key partners: the L-Acoustics team and the yacht’s own engineers, two crew members with extensive knowledge of the vessel’s interior structure.
They know every inch of the yacht’s construction. They were able to guide us and provide quality solutions for cable runs, penetrations, and any structural limitations. The L-Acoustics team has provided us with exceptional support. They supplied highly detailed Soundvision models showing the performance of the systems in each space, offering us different options depending on the performance objectives. They went far beyond expectations, from the initial designs through to final calibration. Between the IP55 rating built into the products and the support from L-Acoustics, we knew from the beginning that this project was going to be a success, Fisher explains.
